Grandmother’s ring

This ring was my grandmothers and she has passed away so I don’t know it’s history. I’m not sure if the pieces were made together or the jacket was made to go around the center ring. My dad thinks the center diamond is an old cut diamond but I have never seen anything like this before so I don’t have anything to compare it to. Does anyone have any information on this type of ring?

Can you get a more focused photo on the facets of the center diamond?

The jacket looks like (and I could be completely wrong here) it could be from the 1950s or so. I cannot tell about the diamond ring however without seeing a clearer photo of the faceting.

Lovely piece no matter what and a wonderful gift to remember your grandmother by.
