DD will be graduating from Syracuse with a BS in computer engineering in 2010.

Much to my pleasure [since now I know what to get her for graduation gift], today I discovered that she loves the Tiffany legacy style ring. She loves pink so I showed her some pink sapphires from The Natural Sapphire Company web site. There were a number that she liked. Her second choice is yellow so I would consider a yellow diamond either a light yellow or a X - Z color but pink is her 1st choice [pink diamonds cost more than I want to spend].

My question is: Which are the most reputable sources for pink sapphires - where should I be looking? I will be looking for a stone in the 2.5 to 3ish carat range with great color and clarity [and cut, of course].

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

That first stone from Richard Homer would be stunning in a legacy style setting. Why do you want such a large stone for that kind of ring? Most of the rings in the store have stones less than 2 carats and I think anything bigger might be a little too much especially for everyday wear.

You have to look at mm and not ct weight. I''ve got a 2.87ct garnet in my Tiffany Legacyesque setting and it''s 7.65 x 7.65. I think I looks gorgeous and do wear it to work. You could possibly go as low as 5.5mm but then I''d be tempted to bezel set.

She tried on a similar ring with a center stone measuring about 8x8mms [measured with a ruler! LOL!] and the size is perfect on her. I backed into the carat weight based on the dimensions. I am hoping to keeping the project to under $10k.

As others have suggested, I''d contact Richard Homer for this project. He selects top rough, his cutting is superb, and his stones look amazing. Pictures do not do his work justice.

I was commenting based on the color of the stones more than the shape. The first one is just so much more vivid in my opinion.
