Was cleaning out my jewelry box, cleaning jewelry, etc this morning, and forgot I had this. I had gotten it in my change a couple years ago somewhere, and thought I would put it aside to later inspect/research, then forgot about it. I am not a coin collector/person, and a quick google search revealed it's a mercury dime, and I guess they are of interest to collectors. Don't know what I will do with it, but thought I would share. Never know what you're gonna get in your change. :D

It's likely worth more than 10 cents since it is solid silver. It should be easy to check approximate value by looking on ebay, I would think.

I'm certainly no expert on coins, but I believe that value is determined by a number of factors. Doing an internet search will likely not be of much help since you'd need to know things like condition, etc.

Thanks much to you both. I figured it was definitely worth more than 10 cents (I meant that more "tongue in cheek") ... I am not in any major rush to sell it or anything. I just thought it was kinda neat, and had forgotten about it till I cleaned out the jewelry box. Maybe I will take it to my jeweler and see what they think of it.

Very pretty! Hope Dancing Fire weighs in here. He was a numismatist before he retired.

I remember those! Beautiful design on both sides!

I too love the old designs. Very pretty and looks pretty good for its age.

Wow, what a cool find, very pretty! It's in good shape for being 70 years old lol
Thanks for the info alexah, very interesting

Thanks much for the info Alexah. I will probably hang onto it for now ... Unless I happen upon a coin collector who might like it. It is in pretty good condition condition considering who I ended up with it.

This is a common date mercury dime. From the pic it looks like the coin is in AU condition worth about $3.75,wish I can tell you it is worth more $$$

I'll trade you for it - a British sixpence that I got instead of a dime recently.

A pawn shop will probably give you $1 for it. The silver content is worth about $1.40, and the pawn shop may be able to sell it for $2.
