Hey folks,

just received my ''A Cut Above'' from WF, now the dilemma is to set it. But how do i know if the jeweller has swapped it? Especially since I can''t see the laser inscription and the ''A cut above'' symbol with my loupe?

Joe I think you have an Ideal-Scope?
Simple - the pattern would be very hard to match

IMO ,one of the most important parts of 'delivering' a diamond/ring to a customer with these concens is being sure they are comfortable in being able to reasonably identify their diamond which gives them (and me) piece of mind.

It might be a unique arrow pattern in the diamond or a specific inclusion or two, or a surface feature.

You can usually find something that can become an identifing feature.

In your case, I would suggest one of the 30 power viewers made specifically for viewing laser inscriptions.

Joe,

Your concern is the reason that WF and others pay to have that girdle inscription there. Have the jeweler point out the girdle inscription and learn how to locate it yourself. It's rather small and takes a bit of practice but this isn't that difficult. If the jeweler set it in a way that causes a prong to cover up the inscription, I would complain and have them rotate the stone a little bit. They may not have noticed it prior to setting and this would not be difficult to remedy.

Great Idea guys.

Its like a family here. Always ready with words of wisdom. I'll do the 'identifying of the inscription' bit. Before and after setting. Thanks a bunch.

Also Gary, I do not have an ideal scope but am willing to get one. Say, whats the difference between diamond handling tweezers and the ones from the local DIY shops?
