Hi all:

Do you have any good places/jewelers that you can refer to me in Houston, Texas? I''m looking for a place where they do good job in mounting a diamond into setting. I''ve seen my some of my friends'' engagement rings that have really bad bulky mounted prongs. I''d like to avoid this.

Thanks much!!

Whiteflash is in Houston...I''m not sure if they just mount diamonds into settings if neither is from there...but it''s worth looking into because they''re great!

..unfortunately whiteflash won''t do mounting. they only do mounting if we purchase their diamond.

I called Robin Brothers and they do mounting.
They are new in Houston. Anyone has any expierence with them?
Thanks!!

eeeh.. I''d stay away from Robbins bros..

Email John Pollard or Bob Haskins at WF and see if he''ll recommend a jeweler from inside his building to set your diamond.

curiopotter:
can you give me reasons why I should stay away from them? They sounded very nice on the phone...
Just curious.

curiopotter:

also, do you happen to have their email address? I can only find their info email on the website.
Thanks.

on a side note:
I called Meyerland Jeweler and they'll be able to do the mounting for $75. Anyone has any experience with them?
Thanks.

Thank you for thinking of us. Lesley Harris is best equipped to make a recommendation if you would like that input.
You can reach her via our "info" address or toll-free number.

By the way, you can email several of the PS pros via "request appointment" in the PS communication tool (the yellow strip at the top of RockyTalky).

Cheers.

How about Zadok in Houston? It''s a really nice jewelry store. A few of my friends bought their rings from there.

I used to live in Houston and had contacted Whiteflash to see if they would mount my diamond, but they politely declined. I was pretty disappointed, especially because I had purchased from them previously. Besides that, Whiteflash has always been great.

WF mounted my diamond and I didn''t buy it from them. But I did get the setting from them.

jared''s will mount it for you if you have bought some component of the ring from them.

try also the houston gold exchange

I''d steer clear of Jared''s as there was just a thread on here about them chipping someone''s princess cut diamond when they set it. Plus, Jared''s was very sketchy about it after the fact, trying to falsify documents and whatnot. I say ask Lesley Harris at Whiteflash who she would recommend.

the jareds by my house has mounted three stones for me, perfectly and without any problems.

Are you located in Houston, LadyKemma? As long as the same jeweler you use at Jared''s would be doing the work for Kristie76, then I''d say that''s a solid recommendation.

Obviously there would be different jewelers at different Jared''s stores, though, so I still think it''s probably best not to walk into a random Jared''s store (or any other jewelry store) without recommendations.

Hi,

David Khong at CJ David''s on Mason Road in Katy is very good.

Mary

I''ve had a few friends really dissapointed with the robbins bros off 610. I''ve heard nothing but good things about Zaddok though.

UPDATE:

We brought the diamond to Meyerland Jewelers for setting. They did a great job and they''re about $50 less than RB.

Thanks all for your help!

Another vote for WF.
