Anyone have any recommendations for a good bench jeweler in Philly? Preferably center city, but I'll make the trek to the suburbs if necessary! Thank you in advance!
A friend of mine uses Jem Jewelers on Rt 611 in Warrington, I believe. She is very happy with them. I have no experience with them. My sister has used David Craig in Langhorne once or twice, nbut that was a while ago. My dad used to have a friend who was a great bench jeweler, but he passed away a fewbyears back and since then I gave up looking for one.
I have had good experiences with DeSumma and Wexler on jewelers row in Philly. I will caveat my recommendation with the fact that they have only done relatively simple work for me (ring sizing, setting stones in LOGR settings, rhodium plating a necklace, smoothing prongs on my engagement ring). I have been pleased with all of their work and their pricing is very reasonable, but I can't vouch for their work on more complex projects or custom design of that is what you need.
Awesome, thank you NovemberBride! That's exactly what I need. I have a pin I'd like to turn into a pendant and I think it should be a pretty simple fix.
If you don't mind treking to the burbs, Optima jewelers in Narberth are awesome. Ron is a great bench jeweler and has worked on some of my heirloom pieces. 610-668-8689. They are also on FB.
Hello, all. I'm sorry, but I can't help here. I have never used a bench jeweler - I bought all my jewelry from B&M stores and estate dealers. Good luck.
