Hi All,

If this isn't in the correct location, can it be moved? I wasn't sure what would be a good forum for it that it could also be seen.

So, I've wanted a Cartier Love for several years. I've been going back and forth between the full bracelet or the cuff. I have (finally) come to realize that I can do something else, and this is where I need PS'er help! :kiss2:

What I like about the Love CUFF:
Simplistic design
Oval shape
Size of the cuff (it's substantial enough to be worn alone, and subtle enough to stack)

I don't really care for the Cartier price tag, and I don't really care about the screw motif. I'd go for a full bangle, but I don't like the clasps that I've seen on other hinged bangles. I did try on the Tiffany version, but the price is comparable to Cartier.

Now, I've found an Etsy seller that sells cuffs that look similar to Cartier's Cuff: https://www.etsy.com/listing/596395026/solid-14k-gold-cuff-6mm-x-15mm-flat?ref=shop_home_active_5

I don't know anything about this vendor, but it looks really nice and the price point is excellent.

So, here are my questions/criteria:
1. What is a reasonable cost for a cuff that is 6mm x 1.5-2mm for a 7.5" wrist in either 18k or 14k yellow or rose?
2. Anyone have a favorite vendor that would get me what I'm looking for?

Please help, lovely PSer's! I do have a local jeweler that I can visit, but I need a realistic price point to reference, and I'm not sure I have one...

That seems very inexpensive for a solid gold cuff. I think I would ask the weight of the bracelet. Have you thought about having David Klass make you one?

You can reach out to Caysie at CVB Inspired designs or Yekutiel at ID jewelry. I’m sure that one of the two would be able to help you. I would suggest that you take your time and look around - Pinterest and other sites that can offer images or suggestions. I am currently having Caysie make a white gold oval shaped bangle for me. The price is good and her designs are very nice. Good luck to you.

I hadn't thought of asking David Klass about making one. I am considering going to my local jeweler to compare some prices. I'll surf David's pinterest page. :D Thanks!

Actually, I was in a quandary about this myself while immersed in the branded pieces thread. I do want you to be aware of The Gold Thread if you ever have a question that is really about gold!

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/do-you-have-a-favorite-gold-designer.29197/page-61

In the case of your question about the Cartier Love bracelets, however, I think that this is probably a better venue than The Gold Thread at the moment because that has not been very lively lately.

I found some hinged bangles (new) just as beautiful as Cartier's at Betteridge in Greenwich, Connecticut and on-line. Take a look. They are Cartier's Love bangles with the flaws removed, but without the name and without (quite) the price tag.

If you're not stuck on owning a signed piece, I'd absolutely go the custom route. I think DK has created bangles before.

Now is the time to do your homework. Bring a tiny tape measure and camera (phone) and try on and take a ton of pics of bangles. You have the opportunity to create a custom DREAM bangle! Real or costume, try them all on.

Thank you for the recommendation! I didn't think of either of these. Most of the PS designers I think of for settings and not necessarily something as simple as this. :D

Thanks, AGBF! :D I have checked the gold thread, but as you said its not that lively. ;) I will check out the link you posted and see what all they have there. :)

You are right Pinto! :D I wish I had Cartier in my town so I could take pictures. I did try on the T&C version, but as we all know they don't allow pics. :D I'll sketch up somethings, and make a picture collage of what I'm thinking of. :D Thanks for the ideas!

I would also suggest David Klass. He has made a couple bracelets seen here, I think.

Thanks! I haven't seen many that were plain, but I'll look to see what I can find. :D

HI:

If the most important thing is to get "a" bangle, then get anything.

But CS--you've wanted a Cartier bangle a long time. You have Cartier bangle fever and that is a good thing. Beauty and quality. It sets the benchmark...…will anything else do?

You want what you want, notwithstanding, have earned a piece of Cartier fever on your wrist. Please, save your $$ for the Cartier. I promise to keep my eye out for something for you...as others here will also.

Slow and steady wins the race...…:mrgreen2: Team Cartier!!!:appl:

cheers--Sharon

I looked the item below up before reading Sharon's posting above.

If you want a certain look, and not the name, I will keep looking. If you want Cartier, get Cartier.
I have been on both sides of this issue. Sometimes I truly want "the real thing". On the other hand, after having to return a 24K hammered gold Gurhan bangle bracelet that was hollow inside and waaaaay too big (luckily the vendor was a Pricescope vendor and saw what a mess it was and gave me no trouble), I had my set of gold bangles made by my local jeweler!

Do what you truly wish!

Hugs,
Deb

Nieman Marcus has this Sarah Chloe bracelet in both the silver and gold plated with a diamond!

I was looking for you, cozystitches, but I said at the outset that I had been in a quandary over the same issue. I think I may buy myself two of the silver cuffs (without the diamond). They will actually match (being silver, not white gold) my sterling silver Elsa Peretti mesh earrings and necklace.

Then I can save up for another bracelet (by Roberto Coin) that I found tonight while looking for you! I already have it on my wishlist. Please excuse the threadjack, but I want to share this beauty. I may be saving for quite a while; the price tag is not small!

:D Love you, Sharon! I had thought this originally, however there are a few things that have made me re-think the Cartier:
I'm nervous about the 24/7 nature of the bangle. I love the weight and color of the bangle, but the fact that they suggest not taking it off is a concern. Now, I do wear my jewelry ALL the time, but I know I can take it off if I need to. This is what brought me to the cuff. The cuff would solve that issue, however, I'm concerned w/the damage to my tennis bracelet. I did go into Cartier today (and Tuesday) to try it on again, when I was in the store, I looked at it. For a long time. There was only one SA and she was busy with someone else, so I didn't get the opportunity to try it on again. I kept thinking about it.

I *really* want a substantial bangle/cuff that is fitted, I don't really care about the screw motif (don't really care for it actually); don't care about the story behind the bracelet (I mean it'd be great, but hubby doesn't care about jewelry)...I just want GOLD (or gold plated platinum...which is apparently Gurham??). I'm going classic, but FITTED.

I do like the idea, but for the price, I think I'd be better off going custom....unless I win the lotto... AND the fact that hubs is so not supportive.

Deb! You are GREAT!!! I like the look of this one, but I don't want plated. Either SOLID gold or platinum that has been gold plated (which I've found is a thing?).

I actually liked the Kate Spade bangles, but again I don't want to spend $$ on silver that has a bit of gold plating. I think it's a mind thing, honestly. I also don't want hollow. This is my tennis bracelet that I'll be stacking daily...

My concern w/a cuff is if it's not tight, it'll damage the tennis bracelet.

Also, is Sarraf a good place to get bangles/cuffs?

If you know your size, how about a preloved one? Also have you considered a perlee?

@AGBF I found these:
http://www.sarraf.com/products/14K-Yellow-Gold-Solid-Vikings-Bangle-Bracelet-7.5".html
And
http://www.sarraf.com/products/18K-Yellow-Gold-Solid-Vikings-Bangle-Bracelet-7.5".html

Now the 18k is heavier than the 14k. I know it has the screw motif (I don't care about the screws, but wouldn't mind some design)...

But I just don't know about this company...

Hi, cozystitches-

I have seen this company advertising for years and would not hesitate to buy from them myself since they have a 30 day guarantee policy and take Paypal and credit cards. (Recently I returned two pieces of jewelry I bought on eBay using Paypal. I recounted those stories elsewhere on Pricescope.) I cannot vouch for the company, personally, though. I just think that if you buy a bracelet (providing you like it a lot), you can always return it should it disappoint you. So, essentially, you are trying it on.

Deb :wavey:

PS-Did you see that the bangle is available without the screw motif and in many widths beside the 7.5"?

I had thought of going the preloved route, my fear is that because the LOVE is copied I'd be worried that I'd get a fake. I know that there are a few listed on eBay (from more reputable dealers) that I'm watching, but still can't pull the trigger.. :(

CS: I agree that a pre-loved Cartier cuff would be great. I know my experience is not yours--but I have put my trust in a few vendors who do sell the "real" deal. If we knew your size we could keep out eyes out for need--then you can decide if you can move forward!

cheers--Sharon

I'm a size 19 ;)

Went to the local jewelers today, they have a knockoff Cartier. They are going to look into pricing for yellow gold. They had a white gold w/satin finish and diamonds. :kiss2: If it was Yellow, I would have had to call hubby....
