GOG shopping spree in Oregon

I am so excited!! I have two dynamite GOG stones traveling all the way from New York to Oregon for me to view this Friday! They are being sent to my local Pricescope appraiser here in Portland. Alas, my future husband may not be able to meet me at the appraisers office to help me choose between the two. I pray that one of them "speaks" to me so my decision is made a little easier. Any words of wisdom to help me with this decision? My guess is that they are both beauties and it will all come down to color?

My only advice is have the appraiser show you both without telling you which is which.

I''m not sure you''ll be able to tell much difference, as they have very similar personalities. Stunning, glowing, beautiful ones!!!

Well woohoo, you lucky duck!

They are both gorgeous, I think one of them, if not both will speak to you.

Color "may" be the deciding factor, but just remember, when looking for/at the color, hold each stone individually. You may see the difference side by side, but standing alone is how you should ultimately decide, because that''s how it will sit on your hand. You may very well not be bothered, or be able to see any noticeable difference!

Also make sure you look over the SI1 in natural daylight, to see if it''s eyeclean to your liking. Take your time, comparing brilliance, scintillation and fire. And lastly, have fun!

Excellent advice! Forget the paper and look at the two diamonds without knowing which one is which and let them talk to you!

Your subject line totally made me click on this because I was like... "Jonathan is coming to the West Coast and he didn''t tell me!?!?" man...

Thought I should post a quick follow-up on these diamonds. A house came up on the market over the weekend that we are pursuing at the loss of a lovely diamond. While we are excited that a home finally came up on the market in our price range, we are disappointed that my dream ring is going to be put off for a while.

On to happier topics... the diamonds! They were SPECTACULAR!! I looked at a lot of HoF diamonds to get an idea of how an ideal cut diamond should perform. I think these diamonds knocked the socks off HoF. Both the J and H faced-up a beautiful white. Beautiful sparkle and fire. I could barely see the color on the J from the side, but I would have chosen the H just for ''mind clean'' reasons. But honestly, if I were given the J and not told the color I would have been madly in love with it. So this exercise wasn''t a total waste. I now know the buying a H SI1 Hearts & Arrows diamond sight-unseen from GOG will get me one super-hot momma of a diamond.

I am truly pleased that you love your new diamonds. I have a drop dead gorgeous HOF diamond. It knocked the socks off of any other diamond I have ever owned. I think it's a matter of preference. I am not trying to offend you, but I think that comment seemed a bit unnecessary.

really - this is getting a bit silly. You need to stop looking
for every single comment about HOF on the board and taking them personally. What exactly about Portland's comment was unnecessary??!!
She simply stated her impression of the two ideal cuts and her *opinion* on them, which she's entitled to in her own thread!

fwiw, if you actually read her whole comment, the OP is not keeping the diamonds, as she is moving into a new house instead. Luckily, because otherwise your comment would've been simply rude!

I don't mean to come across as admonishing, but I found your comment to be the unnecessary one, tbh.

To the OP, my apologies for the t-jack, I'm sorry you don't get to keep the GOG diamond

On PS, we frequently send people to look at HOF to see what a superideal diamond looks like and how it performs. I've grown a bit tired of people who go into HOF vendors, Tiffany's, etc. and come back to gloat about how much better their online purchases are than the diamonds they have seen at these stores. There are a good number of us who have purchased stones from these stores and it does begin to feel a bit discourteous. The fact that the OP chose not to keep the diamonds is irrelevant to this discussion. If I have done something to personally offend you, please let me know. If not, then let's not continue on with this.

ETA: I have also purchased online diamonds, so I have nothing against this, either.

The point of this forum is for people to express their opinions. The OP preferred the diamonds from GOG to HOF diamonds she saw. She has a right to say so, and it''s helpful for readers to know as they try to make decisions.

You prefer HOF. Good. That''s also helpful for readers to know.

What isn''t helpful is to tell people not to post their opinions just because you happen to own a particular brand of diamond.

As I have said, I have purchased and been pleased with my online purchase of diamonds, including an ACA from WF. I have no personal relationship with HOF, nor am I a vendor. I have not grown tired of people posting their happiness with their online purchases and contribute to their threads, including your own. You have completely misconstrued my posts, my motivations and my character. I have attempted to respond to you with courtesy and you continue to berate me. You have made much about my comments without knowing me or what is of importance to me. I think it is truly time to end this discussion. Now I've become irritated with you, which I have tried hard to avoid.
