And I'm getting ideas.....

I bought my pair of WF ACA .82 CTW earrings a while back, then bought a pair of BGD .68 CTW studs to wear in the second hole in my ear, but don't like the 2 pairs together at all. I put a pair of tiny CZ's in the second hole and liked that much better, even though the CZ'a are crap. Yep, you got it, my Brian Gavins are too big. I know I'll probably get run off PS for admitting that, but it's true. ;))

So I'm considering a few options, one of which is to get a pair of AV Rounds, which would be from these choices...

I wonder if these will look noticeably smaller enough that I'll like the look. My ACA's average 4.76mm. What do you think? Any other ideas? :wavey:

Oh my, how adorable ::)

I definitely think there'd be a visual size diff, esp if you set the OECs in 3prong martinis

Did you put a pair on hold already? If not, someone beat you to it!

Dern tootin' I did! My Momma didn't raise no fools!

I learned the hard way when I first got here to slap a hold on something before opening my trap about it in here. :nono: I put a hold on those 'G's, but am seriously thinking about the 'E's instead. I'm so darn color sensitive.

Yssie, do you have stats on those stones you posted? Especially that middle pair?

Here's a pic showing my two pairs together, the smaller average 4.545 diameter.

Just looking at what you have now, I can see that having such similar sizes are less pleasing to the eye than having the upper diamond distinctly smaller than the lower one. You could, of course, also solve this problem by getting larger diamonds for the main pair.

Go for the E's. You know you want to. :naughty:

.

Oops -

first pair is risingsun's 0.82ctw, 0.53ctw,

second is MC's 0.82ctw, 0.5ctw,

third is AllisonD's 0.55 vs 0.16 each

.

FWIW, Denise at BGD emailed me back in October, "The smallest diamonds we can put in earrings are 0.10 ea. in 14kwg 3-prong Martini's. The total would be $415."

How close together are your ear piercings? I can tell you, those AVRs would be too big in my 2nd piercings. But mine are really close together (because I have 3rd and 4th piercings too) and my earlobes are really small. If you've got a decent bit of space between your pierces and normal size earlobes, they could be just about perfect.

But yes. I hear ya on needing small stones for the extra ear pierces. I actually use what were originally nose studs of mine, like 1.5mm total with the bezels. They're nice because the bezels are super thin and beautifully made, the stones are surprisingly decent, and they were around $80 each for diamond/white gold.

Yssie, do you know if MC or risingsun ever posted details about their stones? My search-fu has failed me. The total wieght of their sets is almost exactly what I'm looking at, but I'm concerned about the diameter. I'm hoping their .25's are shallower whereas AV's are a little deep.

Fly Girl, I thought about that option for all of about 2 seconds before tossing it out. I'd never part with my ACA's, they just look like little headlights. Besides, I don't like anything bigger than about half carat on my ears. I know, Phoenix and btiger are going to come in here and *****slap me for saying that, but I'm an old broad and I'm picky. I actually have a pair I left in the States that are almost 2 CTW. I don't like them and almost never wear them. When I get back to the States you'll likely see a thread "How Should I Reset These Diamonds?"

As for knowing I want to go for the 'E's.... You know me, don't you?

LittleGreyKitten, I'll get a pic later to show the distance. I think they're not too close, but I'll get your opinions.

Here's a pic of me wearing just the ACA's..LW-ACAearrings-EarShot-Hesco.jpg

I found their pics in the show me your diamond earrings sticky in SMTB - that's all the info there was there, but you could try calling them out on the forums?

Or maybe they have threads on them - I'll take a look but I make no promises, my searching skills leave something to be desired w/ the new forma

I want some!! These are awesome! They actually look even better cut than the bigger ones!

Those look amazing.

Wow they are stunning but I almost fainted at the cost! $700 for .25, I opened the link thinking a hundred or two - wow I got it wrong.

But they are spectacular.

I am really looking forward to the finished product; nice finds Andelain!

Yeah, they're a bit pricey, but when I compared them to the prices of virtual selection stones on BGD they really aren't bad at all. The G VS-1&2's I have on hold list for $545 each, so that's even more bearable. I'm still thinking I might go ahead and get the 'E's if I got this route though.

The other thing I'm considering is trading in my BGD's for something around .20 - .22 in either 'D' or 'E' color. Yssie, I need to find one of your posts where you detailed what to look for in earring diamonds, since signature stones wouldn't be an option in that size.

LittleGreyKitten, here's a couple pics to show the spacing of my earholes.

hah :))

for earrings I vastly prefer shallower stones (shallower pavilion) - main reason is that dirt on a shallower pavilion will have less effect on face-up light return. Even slightly overly shallow stones - as obstruction is unlikely to be an issue (if it is you'll have bigger things on your mind! ).. these stones also usually have larger spread and show less body colour than "ideals", but neither of those would be an issue for you as you're looking for small and an E doesn't have body colour to show ::)

"Bigger things on my mind"    Yssie, you're hilarious.

What would you consider "perfect" specs for an earring stone?

Ya know, I just realized you're probably getting ready to give my coordinates to the hajjis with the rocket launchers if I don't quit bugging you. But you are a great help around here and I hope PS gives you a gift like they've done for a couple others.

Oh Ande, you're one of my favourite posters - I feel like I "know" you (or at least, one of your guns and your taste in diamonds  ) In any case, I was quite serious - stay safe!! You need all limbs intact to model your jewellery box for us when you get home!

Earrings - well, I'll be honest, I think you'd get a real kick out of those baby AVRs ::)

If you go the other route though, would ask 'round for a pair of nice 60/60s - my first two sidestones were 58T/33C/40.6P/80lgf (that I think was rounded up) & 59/32.5/40.8/80, and I reckon they would've made a fantastic pair of studs. They both had some obstruction issues leaning over the ring - the second rather moreso than the first (and neither nearly as bad as my second centrestone w/ a 58/33.5/40.6 combo - it really does depend on the stone!) but from arm's length they blazed bright white like my "ideals" of the same size just couldn't hope to :sun:

Thanks Yssie, I do try to keep all my body parts safe, not just the limbs. Actually, if you go back to that thread of Original Pics you can see another of my guns. And this time it's one that I own.

Interesting that your center stone had worse obstruction issues than the sides. They probably would have made great earrings, but Chunky and Lopsy just have more personality... Do me a favor and look at these numbers and tell me what you think of these 2 stones as possibilities. Thanks. :wavey:

Ande, your earholes are a bit further apart than mine, so I bet the AVRs are a good size for you! You've got a bit of room between them it looks like.

I like those!

I wouldn't worry about the diff table sizes myself w/ stones that size, but I know others would be more exacting.

LGK, That's true about the spacing, I could even wear larger stones if I wanted to. I'm really on the fence about these little things.... :)

Thanks for the input. I had to go through about 40 GIA reports, but may just spring for those. I really can't decide. Help!!!!

I'd be worried if the stones were a half carat, or a carat, but at 20 points I can't imagine being able to see the different table sizes without a loupe.

Of course I could always ask Brian to slap that one back on the cutting wheel and make the table bigger.....

Nice pic! What sizes are your earrings?

Yssie, who mounted your studs and if you don't mind my asking, how much did it cost?

They are 0.88ct and 0.3ct (so 0.44 and 0.15 each). The 0.15 makes the 0.44 big in the way I like it!

I sent mine to Dan & Caren on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/danielmjewelry

I paid - I believe $165 for 14k, maybe $175? I remember 18k was only $15 or something more. I think I was the first to have them do this setting though, so I'm not sure if their prices have risen since - though they seems to be keeping other items in their store static, which I commend them for!

Well, it's official, I've pulled an Andelain. My project with WF is still in the CAD stage, but the pair of .25 ct 'G' AVR's are on their way to me. They're going to be set in a pair of earrings. I've been talking to DanielM about having him make me delicate 6-prong martinis. Thanks for the referral, Yssie! :wavey:

It'll take a least a month for the stones to get to here, but I can offer up a little eye candy, thanks to Jon. I wanted to see how these babies would look next to my .41 ct ACA's, so he made a video with them next to a same sized stone he has in stock.

Enjoy! :wavey:

Tiny stones, big flashes!
Can you imagine a 5 stone ring with those firecrackers?

I would prefer a comparison with H&As, Eighternity doesn't talk to me!
The 2 little AVR are gorgeous!
