Hi PSers. I have a couple questions about girdles and couldn''t really find an answer with the search function. In the AGS report, it reports the girdle thickness as 1.5% to 3.8%. Is that basically the thickness at the thinnest and thickest part of the girdle? How do you interpret those numbers? If a girdle is too thin or too thick, will a diamond not fall within AGS ideal cut?. I''ve seen older AGS reports that have a much thinner range. For example 1.5 to 1.9
The same diamond has a sarin report that says the girdle min is 1.5% and girdle max is 2.1%. How do you interpret those numbers? Does the sarin report and AGS report conflict or do they just utilize a different evaluation system.
In general, what do you guys think about the girdle? Thanks so much for your help. I <3 pricescope.

Hi cal,

I think this link may help you out. If you have any questions afterwards, just yell!

As for the Sarin, it should be close to the grading report measurements, though quite possibly not exactly the same as. And that''s ok, all types of measurements can vary slightly. ;)

Thanks Ellen for pointing me in the right direction. I think I understand the girdle measurements much better now. Excellent post by John Q.
