Gift help for 4 year old girl

Hey guys, the daughter of someone who has been very kind to me this year has a daughter that has been REALLY ILL for the last 6 months, and just came home from the hospital 3 weeks ago. I want to get this person a thank you gift, but... I know she would prefer something for her daughter than herself (just the way she is, a great mom). But I have no idea what to get a 4 year old who has been in the hospital. I thought about cute PJ's... but I don't know if being sick has affected her growth/weight and don't want to get her a size appropriate clothing item that will only draw attention to her illness.

And I have NO IDEA what a 4 year old girl would appreciate. My budget is flexible for the right gift, but I'd like to stay around 30 dollars. And I would like to shop online.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
 
Hmmm, my first thought was if I were coming home from the hospital I would probably be resting which means movies! Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, Shrek...and I believe they are on sale at Target and Amazon (I believe!). The only thing is whether or not the mom is ok with her watching tv for that long at that age. All moms are different when it comes to that issue.

Otherwise, another option is a gift basket with some games/toys: coloring books, puzzles (look into Melissa & Dough), books.
ETA: Just trying to think of things that she can do that won't require too much energy.

Movies huh, I really loved How to Train Your Dragon. That's a good idea!

She will love that. M&D's magnetic "paper dolls" are also a hit for that age.

Great pick, my nieces are 3 and 4 and are into everything that's pink, princess, ponies, and pirates.

I think every little girl should be indulged through a princess phase. I'm happy with the present. I think it will be really big hit.
