Can the average person, with the naked eye, tell the difference between an average GIA excellent and an average GIA very good stone, assuming it's H color, 2 carats, and VS2 clarity?

If a non-expert likely can't see the difference with the naked eye, that would be useful information for me. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for your help!

I agree with Stone- it's a case by case basis.
It's a great idea to have a look at some stones to see what you love.
Parts of what go into the GIA cut grade are not going to visible to the naked eye. Specifically polish and symmetry ( I mean the difference between G,VG and EX)
Other aspects such a proportion differences that may not affect the cut grade are more easily visible.
By all means, if you do choose a VG cut grade, it should save you in the neighborhood between 5% and 15%.
On a two carat H/VS2 that can be some serious coin.
