Just had a question, if I have a GIA laser inscribed diamond and went to a trusted jeweler would you say the chance of a diamond being switched out is pretty far fetched?

If it is a "trusted" jeweler, why would you be concerned?
A diamond that is laser inscribed is useful only if the receiver checks the inscription, makes a notation on your receipt and upon return of the diamond, both parties re-check the inscription.
Diamond switching to me is more of an urban myth. It's a question that gets asked often but in reality rarely happens.
Get to know your diamond up close and personal....then you will have no worries.

To sum it all up...this. The truth is no one is born with a star on their forehead we have to do our part on our end.

The reason I had been concerned is I had brought it in for service awhile ago and not right away but a little later I seemed to notice some inclusions (1-2) that I hadnt seen before. My diamond is GIA & laser inscribed but I have never seen this GIA number. Of course chances are I just had never noticed these inclusions before, but I just kind of got paranoid. If I identify the GIA number on the stone then that means there would have been no switch that could have taken place, correct? Thanks for your help! :wink2:

If you didn't sit down with a loupe and/or microscope on the first day you got the stone, it's not unexpected that as you stare into it more and more you notice more within ;)) . Do the inclusions match those listed on your clarity plot?

I would be much more concerned if you are seeing inclusions w/ the 10x loupe that are not listed on the clarity plot or commented on.
