Hi again! I am purchasing my ring from Solomon Brothers in ATL since I have already picked out my Verragio setting and they are an authorized dealer. I also picked out a princess cut, but then started reading everyones post, and now I have an appt next week to look at more. The princess I already picked out has a good table, depth. It has a thick-very thick girdle which I''m nervous about, which is the reason I''m going back to look at more. I asked about the Crown height and they said they don''t know since it''s not listed on the GIA report. I''ve noticed on their website that their EGL graded diamonds have the crown height, but I''m a little nervous about EGL. I would prefer a GIA. I would actually prefer an AGS, but they don''t have any with AGS. Any suggestions on how I could obtain the crown height on the GIA diamonds? From what I''ve read on here, crown height is very important!!!

I really like SB. I''m looking for a princess cut from there D,E,F color, 1.10 carat range. Any clarity is fine. I''m really looking for a decent cut though......Color is also extremely important as well. Price range is $5k. I would really like to stick with SB though.

Thanks guys for any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, concerns....

Also, I found the following specs on SB website. They aren''t perfect, but I was wondering if you guys thought it had potential....I know the table and depth %s are high, but wanted your thoughts. I know you guys are all fans of buying on-line, but I would really like to stick with SB.......

EGL Certified
1.20 carat
E Color (which I have learned from here probably really means F)
VS1
5.67 X 5.61 X 4.30
Table- 75%
Depth- 76.6
Crown Height- 11%
Fluorescence- None
Symmetry- Good
Polish- Good
Cutlet- None
Length/width ratio- 1.01
Price- $4584

Get it appraised with an independent appraiser with a SARIN machine.

For viewing, buy yourself an ASET scope?

Hi Amy

You need a Sarin or Helium scan to get the crown height, 11% is a decent height. Really need a detailed photo and ASET image for this diamond if you can get them please.

You might be aware with EGL graded diamonds that these labs can be loose on colour and clarity grading in some cases, if you still prefer to buy an EGL graded stone then make the sale final on the diamond checking out with an independant appraisal, clickhere for the appraiser listing.
