Some time ago I bought a pair of diamond studs. They came with GIA dossier reports and from what I understand the diamonds should have a laser inscription. Where is this placed? I just got a loupe and would like to see if I find it! Thanks in advance for your help!

On the girdle.

On the girdle of the stone.

Like this stone's. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2755/

You might not be able to find it as it might be covered by the prongs of the setting or your loupe might not have enough magnification.

Thanks for your replies! Do all diamonds with GIA dossier reports come with a laser inscription? The jeweler who sold me my diamond studs say that these had the inscription but unfortunately it seems as if some people have been scammed by this person- I hope that I am not one of them...

Yes, all GIA "Diamond Dossier" reports come with the laser inscription- but not all GIA reports.
Do you have the actual GIA reports for your stones?

The diamonds came with what I believe are authentic GIA dossier reports. I believe that they should have the laser inscription, right?!

It's on the edge of the stone in a very small font. They're easy to spot if it's fresh back from the lab but if it's a little bit older the black gets cleaned out of the letters and it can be hard to spot with a loupe. Get someone with a microscope to help. After you know what it looks like and where it is, you should be able to find it with just a loupe.

Yap, if it is authentic GIA Dossier Report, it should have inscription of the GIA numbers on the girdle.

Here's what the front of the report looks like

Here's what the inside looks like

Do you have two reports like these?

Thanks for your replies! I wonder if there is a possibility to check if the GIA dossier reports are authentic? I have a 20x21 mm loupe but there is no where I can find the inscription which makes me a bit worried...

They can be extremely hard to find if you've never seen one.Do your reports look like the ones I posted?

My reports almost look like that... There are two differences:

* Next to the color scale and clarity scale there is also a cut scale
* There is a picture "Profile to actual proportions"- the various angles are noted on this picture

Probably your loupe is not high enough in magnifications. What is the size of your studs? The smaller the stone, might be smaller to fit the girdle.
Go to a jeweler, they should have a microscope and be able to help you find the inscription.

Angles are not there because the stone is a cushion. Angles are only there for rounds.

One diamond is 0.5 ct and the other 0.52 ct.

Just find a jeweler to look at it for you, should be a free service. You might not be skill enough and/or have the right equipment to find it.

I'll try to find a jeweler who can help me. Thanks for your advice!

my inscription is on the girdle. When i was at the jewelry store they showed it to me under the microscope and even then I had a hard time seeing it

I ended up going to an appraiser in order to make sure that the laser inscription is there and even him with the microscope and all the equipment and the experience had a hard time seeing it.In my case, the black color of the numbers was washed off and it was very difficult to locate and read it...but it was there! I have a loupe and i still can't see it until today :?

I got my diamond studs back today and my jeweler told me that the laser inscriptions match the GIA dossier reports! I am so happy!!!!!!!

try a 30x loupe
