I got a price from a local vendor for the Ritani Classic Engagement Ring (this is what its called but its under the wedding band category on the website):

http://www.ritani.com/products/view/933/in_category/18

(Style number 22183AAR). Size 5.75 in Platinum.

I was quoted $3695 CAD minus 25% which would be $2956 CAD plus 13% tax (Ontario) = 3340.

I haven't really bought much jewellery so I don't know if it can be bargained down a bit. Is it acceptable to make a lower offer? I'm not sure how it works when its a brand name. I'm sure the store would budge on their own settings/jewellery but likely is that with a Ritani band. How low would they go? Is there a lower priced online vendor I could get it from?

Thanks!

I would start calling around to various Ritani vendors. I bought my Ritani band from Solomon Bros by calling their phone number and giving them the product number for a quote. I would also call Pearlman Jewelers, a vendor that people use around PS.

Okay, thanks. I don't mind getting at the vendor near me (then at least I could go through them if there was ever an issue) but I don't know what offer to make them for the ring. The fact theat right off the bat without asking they offered 25% off makes me wonder how they could budge so much without me asking. I guess its all optics where they jack up the price and then turn around and give a discount so it makes the buyer feel like they are getting a "deal" :)

I would also assume that they are artificially raising the prices. Do an google search for that model number and see what some of the prices are.
Lol! That's almost exactly the wedding band I bought. It's well made. I remember I paid around $2100 for 18k white gold. Mine is a little bigger at 1 carat total weight. I see that it's $2900 for platinum so it's still similarly priced from when I bought it.
Just so you know, you'll need a spacer if you wear it with a solitaire.

HmmmI didn't think I'd need a spacer. The stones are covered by metal on the sides so I thought this would be okay with a solitaire (I have the BGD Grace). I tried it on with me e-ring and it looked like it sat fine. I don't think the stones were cutting into the prongs. Then again the one I tried on was not the exact one I'd buy. The one in store was an e-ring that had the same band that I'd want as a w-band. So I sort of had to spin it to the side to see what it would look like.

I'll do some more searching and see what other prices I get online. Thanks.
