I don''t know if this should go here or not... it is diamond/gem related, so I think this is most appropriate.

Last night I found out from grandpa that he wanted to buy grandma an emerald ring. My grandpa is a very sentimental man and he loves my grandma more then I could ever describe, you can just see it, it''s in everything he does, he does it for her or with thoughts about her - it really is a beautiful relationship, they have been together and married for more then 60 years now. Ok, so he says he wants to buy her something emerald. My grandfather is handicapped and has a difficult time going out for extended periods of time. I found Geoffrey''s listed in the "local jewelers" area under resources on this site.

My mom and I went in and we looked around, the place was absolutely PACKED!!! I mean there were people EVERYWHERE!! I had brought one of my dogs with me, but she''s little so she wasn''t in the way or anything and I kept her in my arms. Anyway, a sales lady asked if we needed help and we discussed some things we had been talking about - emerald pendant, bracelet, but we had not discussed a ring. My grandma has SO many rings. Well, she didn''t really have much that we liked, in pendants or bracelets, so we started to consider tsavorite - after seeing them in the colored stones area I absolutely LOVE the color and thought it would be a good stone to consider. We also looked at green sapphire. After all of those not really being my grandma''s taste, she showed us emerald and diamond stacking rings - it was PERFECT. My grandma is a very petite lady with itty bitty skinny fingers that are very long - absolutely beautiful hands, I''m so jealous!

So, she gives us a nice discount, we''re happy, she''s happy and we go back to mom''s house. Grandpa sees the ring and starts crying - he absolutely loves it!! But he is sad, he says he doesn''t know how many more holidays and occasions he''s going to have to do nice things like this for my grandma, so he wants to make sure every single one counts... and the ring we brought home for him is exactly what he was hoping for, it''s pretty, delicate and feminine.

Geoffrey''s staff made an old man''s christmas today and they didn''t even know it - so I wanted to pass along this heart warming story. They said that at any point if my grandma wasn''t happy and she wanted to come in to look at other options, since there is no wheel chair accessible access, that they would happily bring the inventory to my grandma and grandpa in a car out front or to the patio area if they liked, we just needed to let them know before we came so they could get some items together to bring down for them to review.

How sweet and kind of them - today this kind of customer service means so much, as it''s a very difficult thing to find, especially this time of year.

So, if anyone from Geoffrey''s comes by... thanks! If not, they''ll likely find out from grandpa when he goes to make his next purchase for grandma :-)

(they even gave my pup a couple of doggy treats - what store has doggy treats just hanging around? - such nice little touches that really made the experience comfortable and fun)

I teared up reading this. Such a sweet and heart warming story. I love to hear a happy story. Your Grandpa sounds like the sweetest man, and I'm sure your grandma will love her new ring. And kudos to you for helping him find the perfect gift for his loving wife. Love what he said about making every moment count. Each Holiday he has with her.... So true and yet we take our days here for granted some times. Geofrey's sounds like a jeweler I would love to have here. So

That really warmed my heart :), Love is a beautiful thing

Many many many and many more happy years for your Grandparents :)

I couldn''t have said it better than Kaleigh...I too am tearing and I thank you for sharing such a great story. Knowing him as you do, helped you find just what he wanted. What a blessing for you and your mom to have been involved. The gift for you was in his reaction.

I hope you print that post you authored and mail it into to Geoffreys. I think they will appreciate to learn how moved you were in gratitude.

I hope this holiday with your Grandparents will be as rich as their lives together have been. Thanks to a delicate dainty ring destined to be worn by his beloved, I am sure it will be! §

Thanks for posting this! I will have to trek over there and check the place out. I visited Topper's in Burlingame since it came highly recommended by some other PSers (they made Slammie's ring, etc) and I must say, I won't be going back. The guy I spoke to was pretty condescending and completely rubbed me the wrong way, so they won't be getting any of my business. I'm glad to hear of another place that comes recommended in the area!

I'm so glad you were able to do this for your grandpa!!

What an extrememly sweet and heartwarming story!!!! Being such a romantic myself, this story really touched me....How wonderful to be so in love with someone and share over 60 years of your life with them!!! Your grandparents marriage is truly blessed.

I hope your grandmother loves her new ring....I''m sure she will....Happy holidays to you and your family!!!!

Thank you everyone. Dani, I''m right there with you in being a romantic and sentimental person. Service like this, especially when it''s for someone the sales team have never met, mean the world to me. This Christmas is already one of the best I''ve had the pleasure of having, and I haven''t even gotten to see my grandma receive the ring from my grandpa yet. I really can''t wait - it''s fun to see my grandpa around Christmas, I swear, you can see that little kid that believed in Santa, the kid that he once was - of course I didn''t know him then - but, that little kid comes out to play for a couple of weeks at this time of year, and it''s adorable.

I''ve always related Christmas to my grandpa, you can really see how much he loves this holiday - even now, wheelchair bound, medical problems that read like a grocery list, rather then a list of diagnoses, he loves to go to the mall and watch the kids with Santa, he loves to decorate the house, to help make christmas cookies, and to surprise the neighbors kids or grandkids with little gifts, or invite them over to help make gingerbread man and woman cookies.

Firegoddess, My mom has used Toppers for a watch purchase and she says she liked it there. We were in Burlingame yesterday after visiting Geoffrey''s, I was curious about them and wanted to go inside to take a peak, but I had too much running around to do in other shops and my meter was getting low on time. I don''t know what they would have to do to top the Geoffrey''s experience honestly. Sorry, you didn''t have a good experience there - to me all of the stores on that street are no better then maul stores - most people are rude, impatient, and a bit too snobby for my liking - Geoffrey''s has a very small, family, business appeal - everyone inside was so pleasant - it really felt like you were in a family members living room.

What an absolutely great story. I hope that when FI and I are married for 60 years that love and devotion is still that strong.

I hope your grandma LOVES the rings. Your pap sounds like such a sweet, sentimental man.

I love reading stories like that. It warms your soul to know there are marriages that have lasted a lifetime.

And great customer service is fab too!
