Welcome!

This thread should give you some more info on how gentian violet was used to ' improve' the colour of a diamond.

A few questions. Which lab graded your diamond, is it GIA, AGS, EGL, IGI etc? Have you always noticed a yellow tint to the diamond, or is it something that has happened recently? Have you had this diamond for long? Has your diamond had a really good clean, or does it need cleaning? A thorough home cleaning or a professional clean may make it look much better.

my diomand is IGI certified and i got it about a month ago when i bought i knew that the h color had a "little yellow tint" that i didnt think at the time would bother me because the cut is so good and it sparkeles very nice but now i am noticing that it bothers me more and more .

I am sorry to hear that. It is a large diamond, so they can show perhaps a little more tint than a smaller stone, but with an H colour grade, really it shouldn't be yellow and the diamond should still be white, although not quite icy perhaps. Are you still able to return it?

Personally I don't mind a little warmth in a diamond, as to me I love a softer white! But I can understand if it concerns you. Have you cleaned the diamond recently with a good cleaning agent or an ultrasonic cleaner? Sometimes those little jars of jewellery cleaner don't do the best job if that is what you have used.

Here is info on the grading labs and how they rank, so you can read more on IGI. http://diamonds.pricescope.com/grading.asp

the thing is no one else can really see the yellow but me i guess my eyesight is wierd or something haha but yes i have an ultrasonoc cleaner at home that i use it like every day!

I think it is something many of us have been through, observing our diamonds with a very critical eye! If you are really unhappy with the diamond, are you still within your return policy, as you have had the diamond for one month?

ok her is the picture in good lighting haha : )
