Despite the snow and dreary weather, did finally take some camera photos of my new spess ring. :)

Just a refresher, here's Gene's pic of this 4+ct beauty. At 9mm it's by far the largest stone I own.
Also took some photos of it loose before setting.

I actually feel weird wearing it because it's SO much bigger than anything else I have

I actually don't think it suits my skin tone, but I don't care! I don't own anything orange because I look terrible in it, but I'm wearing this ring anyways. :P

This looks great. I wish I could be as decisive as you about settings.

Love it! :appl: :appl: :appl:

(oh, did I say dibs? :Up_to_something: :cheeky:  )

I did look at your other thread but never commented - I love this though. A simple setting is so perfect for a gem like this; I think it looks perfect!! Can I ask where you got the setting, if you don't mind?

love the simplicity and it looks great on your finger! :appl:

I just picked up a garnet from Gene at the PO today (french button cushion, 9.49mm). The spess is gorgeous and great to see it on for size ref for myself. I think the tone is great on you and on the hunt for one myself, I have a bright orange clutch I want to match it with. The double pronged setting is lovely.

It looks superb in 18k yellow gold! I love the tiny table and high crown of your spessartite too. Like you, I look awful in orange but how can one resist such a lovely ring?

SUNSHINE!!!!! Love it!

I can't get over the heft of your 5 stone, and this stone is HUGE too!

I think orange looks best in YG. :appl:

Hi,

It looks very beautiful in that setting. Good work!

Not so much decisive as impatient...

It was a Chinese eBay vendor. I'll try to dig up the store when I get home. :)

I know I've already been by at least once to comment, but *guilty of swinging by for a second and third look here* I wanted to comment on the setting. The first time around, I didn't even notice, but this time, I am loving the delicate double prongs. So handsome!

Yowza! Great combo! The stone is amazing and the setting reallly fits.

Looks beautiful!!

Thank you, I really appreciate the info!! I have a pretty decent amount of loose gems to set right now, so lately I'm always on the lookout for settings :)

Hello! I am digging up this old thread five years later because I wanted some info on the eBay seller you used for this setting, kcjewelry1581, if you don't mind.

This post is the only one I see referencing them, and I am thinking of ordering a relatively inexpensive setting from there. What did you think of the quality -- and how has it held up over the last five years?

Finally, was the ring hallmarked for gold on the inside? If not, did you ever have it tested to confirm it was 18K? I noticed most of their setttings are 10K and 14K, but I messaged them for a quote on 18K.

Thank you -- and hope you don't mind me pulling up this old thread!

Hi!
I actually sold the ring to another PSer a few years ago, the stone was just too big for me, and orange isn't really my color.
I was happy with the setting though, and I think the buyer was happy with the whole package as well. Sadly I can't remember who it was I sold it to :/ But maybe they'll peek in!
