I was wondering if anyone is able to help me photoshop a 3 stone ring? Instead of having 2 rings, I decided to combine my two red spinels with my pink asscher spinel. Wierd idea or good idea? This will be in yellow gold.

The pink spinel will be the center stone 6.5 mm x 6.5 mm
The 2 side red spinles are 5.1 mm x 5.3 mm

Do you think the proportion is off? I am not looking for the center stone to "pop" because I think the 2 red spinels can stand on their own.

Wow Chrono!!! What an interesting idea!!!! Those two red spinels are sensational too. That''s quite a collection you have there!!

It seems to me the first thing you should do is "pose" the three stones together and post a picture. (continuing to badger you into posting more pics of the pink asscher..

)

I''ve got to admit my first thought is that I don''t care for it. (But I might change my mind after seeing pics or photoshopping). I''m so blown away by Pinkie, that I think she should stand alone, or be adorned with white diamonds.

Also...Do your spinels shift colors in different lighting? If they do, you''d want to be sure they compliment each other anywhere.

How exciting! It''s going to be great fun following your process. Can''t wait for Irina to work some magic...

I''m with Widget on this one. The beauty of the paler pink asscher might look washed out with the spinels on either side. Just my .02

I know Irina can do so much better but this might give you some idea.

iwannaprettyone, you did great!

...but i still don't care for it as well...and even if this Pinkie be set alone i would never let any yellow gold near it, though i love YG i think this particular pink is just not meant for it.

pretty...yum

Iwannaprettyone,
Thanks for the photoshop. It doesn''t look too bad but I have to mull over it. I was thinking yellow gold because of the red spinels. I agree that if Pinkie is set alone, it''s WG only. I promise only white metals for Pinkie.

Widget,
Yes, Pinkie is a colour shifter - peachy pink to pink to light lilac. The colours are still complimentary with the red spinels.

Isaku,
I too wondered if Pinkie might end up being dwarfed by the rich redness of the red spinels. I''ll have to put them all side by side again and try them under various lighting.

From everyone''s opinion, I guess, it''s back to 2 separate rings again. Gee I need surgery to add more fingers.

Great job, iwannaprettyone! I''m so impressed!

Chrono, your original idea reminded me of Paolo Costagni, a designer whose things show up occasionally at auction. He seems to specialize in bi-color threestone rings.

I''m attaching a pic of some of his stuff (nothing with your color combo) and I don''t really like any of them. To me ALL the colored gems lose out...centerstone AND sides, when they''re combined..

JMO, of course!

I did drool over that setting but it has pave. I''m such a klutz that I''ve been avoiding pave rings. This Danhov setting had me drooling for a while too because it is very low set and I''m imagining with double prongs, but is has even MORE pave because it is a split shank.

Who says spit shanks have to be pave?

Small world! I''ve been thinking about the same thing, lately!

Here are two examples I''ve collected: the top is from ERD, and the bottom from a PS poster. Shamefully I''ve forgotten who! Can someone tell me so she gets proper credit??

Widget,
Truthfully, I already have a non-diamond split shank ER. It's a MWM ripoff in WG. It even looks the same because mine is an EC too. It looks so identical (basket, split sides and all) to the ring below that I'm still amazed to this day.

I don't know if I should have another "plain" split shank ring or go a different route.

Wow....that''s beautiful!

LOL...Ok, I''ll shut up now....

Can''t wait to hear what you decide to do with Pinkie and those TDF red spinels!

Iwannaprettyone,
You are driving me crazy. Where''s my drool bucket when I need one?

lol, fun though isn''t it! hehe. I am off work today! woooo

Wow! Pinkie definitely needs to be set alone in WG. Love, love, LOVE that split-shank pave.

*Wipes drool off my keyboard*

That last picture with the split shank with diamonds in beautiful!!! That gets my vote!!

Mine too. I LOVE that!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the spinal would be beautiful in a bezel earring...

Chrono,
The pink spinel is so stunning I''d let it stand on its own.

Wowzers, I can''t wait to see it. . . heart beating faster. swoon

Me too! But if they were mine, I'd dangle them off leverbacks or French wires...

ETA: Hee hee Chrono: Can you tell I'm having great vicarious fun playing with your spinel treasures???

Don''t you ladies worry about my spinels. Feel free to play around with them as much as you like.

. I have another pair of red spinels that are already destined to be set in earrings. I bought them in 05 but never completed the project because I could not decide on a design; leverback, wire style or as dangle attachements (I don''t know what you call those stud enhancers where you can change the dangle part).

Widget,
What is a French wire?

Here''s the other red spinels meant for earrings. There are perfectly square cushions of about 5.5mm x 5.5mm
I also have another rectangular red spinel that I probably will reserve as a pendant stone.

If anyone has design ideas, I''d really appreciate it if you want to share it here.

Chrono,

I agree with the others regarding setting the pink Asscher cut with the red spinels. The colors do not work together. The pink is a soft color and the red is a strong orangy red. I like the long split shank for the pink Asscher. For the spinels, if you want earrings, I like Widget''s idea of making dangles with lever backs. Below is a picture of my rubellite earrings.

LOL....You caught me, Chrono! I'm not sure! (It's a term LM uses for his plain wire earrings...I presume there's some sort of safety catch or device in back)

.......dangle attachements (I don't know what you call those stud enhancers where you can change the dangle part).
Did you ever see this thread on the jackets DBL made for me? They're great:

In general, I prefer colored stones dangling off the ear over studs...they're more noticable, and with more movement, perhaps more sparkly...

ETA: Wow, Chrono! Another pair of beautiful spinels???? You've got quite a collection, there!

Just a thought: All 4 to earrings, squares are studs you can wear oriented whatever way you like. And jackets made with the first pair and pave V-shape which hugs stud's corners.

They sure are.

I LOVE bright red gemstones!!!

I have the Danhov split shank set with an aquamarine and I think it''s such a great setting for a colored stone - that pinkie would look AMAZING in it!

Also agree about the pink and reds not going well together...have some fun with them in seperate pieces!
