I got an email today that Jeff White had posted a new Gem Scoop. Any stones that you have to have? I''m not bowled over by anything although I kind of like the red spinel.

I''m not in love with any of them (and am not in a buying situation, and never have been, sigh) but I think the cutting on the peridot and chrysoberl looks great! The Montana sapphire is big for a Montana, isn''t it? It looks sleepy enough to be fuzzy, though he says the picture is deceiving. I''d love to see that IRL.

The spinel seems really pretty, I wonder if it might be a bit too dark in real life though.

I''m loving the bicolor tourmaline!

I bet that chrysoberyl sparkles like mad too...

hrmmm..I''m a member, but haven''t received the scoop yet..
MTG what colour is the spinel?

And can someone please tell me are there any blue sapphs?

You can still see the stones if you go to the members page and enter the password.

The spinel is a deep red, and there''s a blue montana asscher sapphire.

The bi-colour tourmaline is so sweet but I’m in the process of getting another gemstone now so I can’t buy it at present.

The bi-tourm is lovely, as well as the cut on the montana sapphire!

I''m not loving the spinel - too brick red for me, especially after drooling at AN''s spinel.

Not really loving anything...

of the bunch the perido was the most interesting, imo.

I thought that was pretty too MZ

I like the bi-colour tourmaline and the peridot best!

Weird, I''m subscribed to Gem Scoop but I didn''t get this one either. If not for this thread I''d never have known there was a new drop!

I like the spinel. I''m a sucker for those deep blood reds (as my avatar suggests), and that one hits pretty close to my ideal color. Dropped a line to see if it''s available, no answer yet.

Ditto. I really liked that peridot, but I''m not in the position to buy today.

I registered my email for the scoop, but I have yet to get one. I just tried to re-register, but it claimed I was already signed up.

Not that I really need another stone right now. Did someone say peridot?

His comment: Here is a very nice mint Peridot from Supat, Pakistan, cut in a lively square cushion design. Extremely bright and clean for the locale, this one will make some green fan very happy.

The red spinel looks like fine Burmese material to me. I don''t see any brown that would land it in the "brick" category. I dithered on it, and now it''s gone.

Thanks for filling me in Fly Girl! Dang, that''s a gorgeous stone, and I love cushions - if I hadn''t just bought a peridot, I''d be hunting this one down. I''m not assuming it''s still available, but what was his price on it?

Hello all!
35.gif

Just wanted to drop in and apologize for the issues some of you have had with today''s mailing. Our web host upgraded (and I use that term loosely) our email server last week, and they failed to mention some VERY important changes that they instituted in the process. This has dramatically affected my mailing list software''s performance to the point that MANY (if not most) subscribers did not receive this morning''s email. I have made a few changes to my software and have resent the note this evening. If you are a member, you should have it in your inbox within the next few hours. Also check your Trash folder, as sometimes they are marked as junk mail by aggressive spam filters (Hotmail and Yahoo most notably). Even if you do not receive the note, you may still log in using the username and password from past mailings. If you cannot find that login information, please email me. Once I confirm that you are subscribed, I''ll send it to you.

Again, I apologize for this debacle. I''m working hard with my host to get this resolved, and I can promise you that this will not happen again (even if it means switching hosts).

Your Frustrated Faceter,
Jeff

Could someone please tell me how to get into the members'' area of the website? I know the password, but don''t know how to get to that screen without the email link.

Thanks MTG. I''m at work and can''t recall the password..oh well

I just noticed that this was sold, did a PSer get it? If so lots of pics :)

How frustrating with the gemscoop newsletter, I didn''t receive it this month either-but did try to ask about this stone and didn''t hear a thing about it-is there a new way to order stones???

Alas! I missed out on the spinel. Oh well. It''s probably for the best; I just got the sketches back from Green Lake on my nerd ring and wedding band, so that''ll eat up my frivolous spending for a while. The red spinel project can go on the back burner until that''s done.

Congrats to whoever got it, if it was a PS''er, and I hope to see many pictures in the future!

Did a PSer get the red spinel? C’mon….it’s time to fess up.

I still haven''t got the newsletter yet, I know how to get to the member''s section because I remember the password.
It mention there''s a new way to order stones in the newsletter.

I finally got my GemScoop this morning. I did write to Jeff and let him know that I didn''t receive it and he sent it out promptly.

I''m really likin'' the bi-color tourmaline, very pretty.

I never got it at all... Do you think its a problem just to sign up again?

I tried to sign up but it said that I was already registered. So I just emailed Jeff and let him know that I didn''t receive it.

I tried for the peridot, but someone juuust beat me to it. It''s such a lovely color!
