Can anyone help me with information on G colored diamonds? I was reading that some blue fluorescence actually helps with color for diamonds that are H and below but G is right near the top of the "near colorless" spectrum. Should an ideal G ring have some blue (i.e, medium fluorescence) or no fluorescence at all?

Should it? no. Can it? yes. Does it hurt? not at all. Does it help? maybe, if it's medium flourescence I would think. slight will be meaningless...and strong you'd have to see the stone to decide!

I've heard that having fluorescence in a near colorless diamond will just give it a 'crisper' look. I am not sure if it would actually make your diamond appear blue...I wouldnt think so except for maybe in Strong Blue Flourescence. If you are asking whether or not it is good or bad to have flourescence in a G colored diamond, I would just say it is personal preference - like so many things in purchasing a diamond. Some people love it, some people don't.

strong blue could make the stone appear oily or milky. You really need to see the stone to know for sure. Faint flourescence really has no impact. I'd love medium in a G or H for sure!

I really believe that fluorescence is a personal preference. Have you compared like-colored stones with and without fluorescence? Personally, I prefer it. I have an E with medium blue, and it does give a crisp (plugged-in) look to the stone in some lighting conditions.

I have a G with medium blue fluorescence. I can't imagine it looking any whiter. I love it!
