:angryfire:

I purchased my fiance's ring directly from Hearts on Fire in February 2013. Paid a pretty penny to have my own (GIA Certified) center diamond used.

Today, she called me nearly in tears to say that one of the diamonds had fallen out of the setting on her engagement ring. I'm so upset I can't believe it.

She just dropped it off at the local hearts on fire dealer who was shocked and apologetic. They promised a same day fix (I'm sure not with white gold)...

I feel so ripped off. :angryfire:

Here's a photo I took of it last year. It's 1.4 carats total (center diamond is .8 Carat G color VVS2).

Very pretty! Sorry this happened to your Fiance's ring.

Okay... a diamond fell out. The center diamond or one in the halo?

It happens. Trauma, wear and tear... it is less likely that a well-made setting that is inspected regularly (at least every six months) will lose stones because potential problems will be identified before that point, but even then it still happens. Your HoF distributor agreed to fix it immediately, so your fiancee won't be parted from her ring for any length of time.

I fail to understand the reason for your fury?

ETA: That the setting is made of white gold is no reason to question the turnaround time.

I agree with yssie. I understand you're upset because she's upset, but even ferrari's have engine problems sometimes! The point is they agreed to get it fixed asap. I'd call that good service, and the fact that you could drop it off into any Hearts on fire dealer is kind of part of what you pay for.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened, but I wouldn't worry too much. These things happen, and your warranty/insurance should cover it.

It happens with jewelery. Your hands get a lot of use. Sound like too customer service from the dealer!

Re: FURIOUS: Hearts on Fire Engagement Ring Diamond fell out

To be fair, I posted this immediately after getting off the phone with my fiance.

The ring is fully insured so it's not a monetary issue (other than feeling like you pay for quality, you expect quality). One of the melee diamonds fell out. She was in a crowded mall at the time. Several people all dropped to their knees and helped her find the diamond! At least that I can feel good about.

I'm glad that it seems to be a quick fix, I was just worried that they would just use solder instead of white gold since the turn around is so quick.

You're missing the point - you paid for quality, you probably GOT quality, but even with quality settings and stones, sometimes shit just happens. She's had the ring for over a year, that's a lot of knocks and bumps, etc. I'm glad they are taking care of your ring for you and standing by their work.

No worries - a reputable shop won't solder a diamond in!

I'm glad you're feeling better, and it is good to hear that so many people stopped to help her try and find the missing stone ::) I do recommend regular inspections to be sure you're doing as much as possible to avoid any other nasty surprises, but sometimes... well, there are excellent reasons to buy locally, or from brands with local distributors!

Sadly, stuff like this happens! It's part of life!

That is why there is insurance.

This sometimes happens. It's just a risk with any pave setting; a solitaire is much safer obviously.

I'm glad you are feeling cooler. I know how upsetting it is when something happens to your ring :blackeye:

It happens relax.... Bumping your hand slightly . I have lost 7 stones out of my eternity band over the past 18 years ....I have even had it reset from platinum to 18k white gold thinking the setting was responsible but its all around diamonds so if you wear it and accidentally knock it stones fall out. That's why you have insurance. In fact the very day I had it remade a stone fell out one hour after I had it on.

So I know its a terrible feeling to have stone fall out and that's why pave settings are not as durable then 3 stone of solitaires But we fix them and move on. My jeweler replace my stones free of charge the first 5 times then we got annoyed and it remolded.

It's sort of sweet you got upset in defence of your lovely bride. Glad it's okay now. As the others posted, this sort of thing happens. Excellent service by HoF :) Glad it was covered.
