Hello, fellow Pricescopers! I have a favour to ask: would you mind looking at some jewellery for me? You don't mind? Are you sure? I'd hate to take up too much of your time... ;)

Haha ok all joking aside: if while in your online travels you come across a 14k yellow gold setting that can hold a 0.50ct round diamond, do let me know! A buddy of mine is looking for one for his lady fair.

Ring size: probably 5
Budget: around $150-250
Style: he is really open-minded (but i know he liked Niel's when I showed it to him, and smooth/rounded edges are preferred to squared/angular).

The stone he has is a family diamond and it's loose so he needs a setting. His gf loves yellow gold and he has a 14k yellow gold band so he'd like the setting to be 14k. His budget is suuuper small because she loves travelling and he wants to use the majority of his savings for the proposal to take her on an epic trip. It makes sense for them. So romantic!!

Anyways, if you come across anything amazing, please let me know! I'm thinking for his price range, Ebay pre-loved might be the best bet? Got any tips?

Thanks in advance! I promise to post pics once it's all done and he proposes!

IMG_0382.PNG This probably would've worked, but it sold already! $150 on ruby lane. We weren't sure about the centre stone size so we didn't jump on it.

Give me a mo to look I'm sure more of mine are or there

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/282503143979

This is set a little too high, but a good bench could set it lower. That would cut into his budget so I'd start by offering 50

The third one is the best option of my three, I think.

Ask her what size stone this fits but this is very promising

This one seems like a good option if it will fit the stone. Don't forget your friend needs to allow for whatever the jeweler charges to set a stone too, and don't be surprised if these old rings need prong retipping.

Yes you can order for the exact dimensions of a stone you have from jewleryhoo on ebay. It's right around the budget and it's beautiful. Here is the pic that they sent me on eBay. I had it made in 18k yellow gold, it is perfect and took about 14 days to get.IMG_2844.PNG

Awesome!!! Thanks to the help here my friend has ordered one... I'll tell you which one as soon as the sale goes through! :D

Does anyone know a good goldsmith in Vancouver, BC? I found a guy in the Fraser valley but he is $$$. $45 for ring sizing. When I was living in Calgary, AB I had a guy that could do it for $30.

Darn - my buddy missed out on the crowd favourite. He was outbid. Time to focus on the other lovely options! I'm thinking the opal mount looks nice?

Son of a bitch. Well, we weren't 100% on that one anyways. Settings like mine for a stone her size are not too difficult. I'll try to find one that isn't an auction in the morning

All and any help is MUCH appreciated! The more he saves on the mount the more he can spend on the surprise trip :)

I think you can get my Stuller setting in 14 kt. Yellow gold for $250.

The plus side is, he needs a size 5 and this one is 5.25 so at least he won't have to pay to have it re-sized probably (at least until he knows for sure it needs to go down a bit)

250 USD? Gorgeous gorgeous setting. I'll make sure he knows about it in case this one doesn't work. Thanks!!

Yes. I'll try to find the link.
