French Cut Sapphire Halo

New here. I have a 2.52 GIA H SI2 round diamond that I am hoping to get reset into a 14k white gold setting surrounded by french cut sapphires similar to the ring pictured here except with no diamonds near the shank . My jeweler quoted me @$2800....is this a rip off. I saw a similar setting on Fay Cullen and they quoted me $1600. I know Fay Cullen has gotten mixed reviews. Are there any other jewelers you all could recommend that has experience in making a setting like this in the $1600-2000 range. Thanks in advance!

The question is, how much does a good setting like this cost? You certainly don't want to buy the cheapest, because it might have ugly dark sapphires! My suggestion is to get a quote from Engagement Rings Direct. They make this style setting and can obviously access the sapphires since they show some similar rings on their site. You'd just have to show them a picture of what you want and give them specs such as metal, size of your diamond, ring size, etc., and they can give you a quote. I would not buy FC because I do not think those are good quality, and I would never have something custom made unless I have seen that the jeweler has made similar rings.
