After several months of looking at 50+ stores, we think we found the setting for my engagement ring! Photos attached. However, the vendor will not make it in any other size. It is currently a 6.75, and I am a 4.5. I suspect I may be closer to a 4.75 when the wedding band will be soldered. We found it at Jared's and haven't been able to find this setting at any other store or online, so we'll purchase from them and have to use their jeweler for the resizing so as not to void their warranty. The ring will have a center diamond (marquise - the head will be changed), and has 2 round diamonds per side held in what appears to be separate prongs due to the elevation change (but the very base of the prongs seem to be shared perhaps), and then pave to the halfway point of the ring.
Their jeweler says this ring will have no problem being resized down that 2.25 sizes. Do you agree? What differences will I notice - will there be greater gaps between each of the stones, will the base be more oval-looking? Their warranty would cover any stones falling out or issues with the gold cracking but I obviously don't want that to happen on a frequent basis.
I had thought about resizing to a 4.75 and then wearing some kind of ring adjuster until the wedding band was soldered, so as not to have to size it twice (or more than that if the 4.5 is not exactly right) and to not go more than 2 sizes down.
Custom designing it in my size by creating a wax mold of the current ring is in theory an option, but the additional $1K would make the setting over our budget unfortunately.
Thank you! I've been using all the tips on here while hunting for our center diamond and you all have been very helpful!
