Need some feedback from the "experts" here...I'm a complete novice. I learned about diamonds in the last 2 months of searching for the perfect stone and setting online.

My budget is less than $10,000 for diamond and setting, wow didn't really know how expensive diamonds were until I entered a jewelry store. After looking online stores I came across a local seller in the Jewelers Row Downtown Chicago District that had a beautiful ring for sale at an affordable price!!

Made an appointment I saw the ring today and he educated me on diamonds and the four C's. He made it known that the center stone diamond is clarity enhanced. The ring absolutely sparkled under the florescent light and only from looking underneath the diamond on one side I can see an imperfection of a lil black line almost look like a piece of black lint. From afar or from the top of the diamond you can not see it at all, only from underneath looking up on the side you can see it with the naked eye up close.

Now that he was honest about that he mentioned this is appraised by UGL (which I never heard of). I told him I planned to get a second independent appraisal if I bought the ring and he offered a 3 day money back guarantee if I wasn't happy with 2nd appraisal / opinion. He will document all this in receipt and also provided other guarantees for life on ring:
-We guarantee the enhancement process in the unlikely event the enhancement is altered we will re-enhance your diamond for FREE for life.
-We offer FREE ring sizing for life.
-We offer FREE repair on the rings we sell. (including free diamond accents if the ones on the side ever fall off)

Best part all this for only $7,000!! The specs are below please tell me if I should walk away from deal and why. If you have personal experence from CE diamonds please let me know.

Thank you

No, No, No :) Stick to GIA or AGS. And nevery buy a clarity enhanced diamond. You would be wasting your money here I am afraid. I will look around and see what I can find.

I say no to the CE diamond. I would rather have a smaller no-CE diamond. Also, that setting, Wow...big. I would not like
it for me personally. Do you think its your GFs taste? How big are her fingers?

Ditto all of the above. I would not want a CE diamond, I´d rather have something smaller that wasn´t enhanced, certified by GIA or AGS.

it's only $7,000 for a reason.. because the grading of that lab can't compare to GIA or AGS grades, so you may think you are getting a SI1 clarity but end up with I2

I asked my gf for some insight on what her dream engagement ring will look like. All she told me she would prefer princess or emerald cut (dislikes round diamond look). Does not want a 3 stone diamond ring and does not want the diamond on a solitare ring by itself either. Her BFF has a ring that has diamonds in the band on top but this ring I found had more diamond accents that I thought she might like. She also did mention she like some Tacori rings.

ring size i believe is 4.50

I'm so glad you decided to pass on this ring. I agree you should go with an AGS or GIA graded diamond. Also the setting to me is really bulky and since you girlfriend has a smaller finger size it would look even bulkier on her. 10k is a great budget to start with so I definitely recommend checking out some of the links FG gave you.

Jewels by erica grace have quite a few nice ones in your budget www.jewelsbyericagrace.com

Here are a few that I found-you can go though their site to find them and find the prices.

I'd also contact www.goodoldgold.com to see what they can do for you. I bet with your budget you can get close to a 1 carat with a tacori mouting :naughty:

First off, I can tell that you're looking to get your GF something really stunning, which is very sweet of you!
Most Tacori pieces tend to be more delicate than the ring you posted a picture of. The carat weight of that ring is impressive, but the whole thing comes off as a little too bulky, and I bet you could get a nicer center stone and more tacori-esque setting elsewhere!
Good luck!

She sounds like a great fit for a Beverly K halo or split shank. Beverly K is similar to Tacori, but at a much more budget friendly price point while still having excellent quality. I would get her a lovely emerald cut in a Beverly K halo or split shank.

Call GOG and ask them to find you a a beautiful 1 carat Emerald cut: eyeclean, excellent cut, and G-I color. And then have them set it in one of these settings:

http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wr564-a-d-d-m.html They will make their square settings for a rectangular emerald cut as well (it is pictured with a square emerald cut).

http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wr1191-a-6-0ec-d-d-m.html

I prefer an emerald cut to princess cuts because princess cuts can have very fragile corners and they have to be cut very deep, so they face up small for their carat weight. You get a much more elegant look with an emerald cut, better spread, and no corners to worry about.

But if you want a princess... this is a gorgeous setting for one: http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wrtj021-d-d-m.html

And this one is nice too:

http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wr167-a-wf-d-d-m.html

I'd also like to suggest a Jubilee (very similar to the Tiffany Lucida, ask her if she likes that one) for a center stone: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7567/

In this setting: http://www.beverleyk.com/semi-mounts/8wr1196-a-6-5cn-d-d-m.html

That last combination would personally knock almost everyone I know's socks off.
