hi everyone,

First, I just wanted to thank all the posters on this site. A month ago, I was completely lost on diamond shopping. After reading all the wonderful/helpful posts, I feel somewhat better about making this huge purchase. Lots of mature and informative discussions here.

I would greatly appreciate some opinions on the following diamond:

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-584865.htm

To my amateur eyes, the diamond is fantastic: excellent cut, reasonable clarity, good size, but the color - I preferred an ''F'' - but this is a ''G''. When comparing ''F'' to ''G'' side-by-side, I could tell the difference. Is "G" a reasonable trade-off? Of all the "C''s", cut is most important to me. I asked about the stone, and it is confirmed ''eye-clean''.

Am I being foolish to pass this stone up just for the color?

I would really appreciate your opinions.

Thanks!

G is a reasonable trade-off.

Definitely, when you''re talking the quality stone you are here.

And remember, side by side with a higher colored stone is not how it will be in the setting.

I have a G and its just a beautiful white. G is in the near colorless range and without a better color stone beside it you wont be able to tell...

F and G are right next to each other in the colour scale. My guess is that once set, you most likely will not be able to tell the difference because the side will be more covered. From the table view, they will look very comparable.

Also, you mentioned being able to tell the difference between a F and G. Were they both super well cut stones?

Thanks for the input everyone. I saw the earlier post on ''G'' color, and am relieved that many folks are very happy with ''G'' color. I''ve been unable to find a similar stone in an ''F'' color on other reputable sites. If someone finds one, please let me know!

Regarding, the side-by-side comparisons: I do not recall the cuts of the stones. I suppose I wasn''t comparing apples to apples if they were cut differently.

Does anyone have an opinion on the stone itself? It''s a reputable dealer, with a great cut. But, is it a ''good'' SI1?

Again, thanks for everyone''s input.

lol It's indeed a "great cut". Actually, they don't get much better.

As for the clarity, we cannot tell you. Call WF, have someone look at it and tell you about it. Tell them what YOUR definition of eyeclean is, and see if it's up to that. If so, you found a winner!

I would go with F all the way. I just happen to be that compulsive and can really tell the difference in color. G seems a little yellower to me.
