Forum Newb seeking out diamonds and info

Hi all, I've been lurking around your forums after finding them by pure mistake. Hell, I don't even know how I came across them now. I have scanned over some posts and resources trying to determine what the important things are. By no means do I feel like a pro, which is why I came to post. I have been planning to propose to my girl for some time now, but looking at rings isn't always a blast and the info and people involved is worse. Plus, the prices I've come across on some of the vendor sites here are very nice. Firstly, size. In the beginning I was thinking half carat max, until....the prices again. I don't have to have a colorless or flawless diamond. I do know I want the H&A cut, because they look best to me and I'm sure my lady! I'm willing to test the waters of posting some that I have saved after browsing and let the wolves eat, so to speak. I use to sell TV's and would ask people straight up, how much is your budget, we will get the best value and bang for the bucks you're willing to spend, so I'd like to spend $2,000-$2,500 max on the stone, and have some of my $3k budget left over for the setting.

All of them are lovely choices. That last virtual one needs more information though.

What is the setting you are planning. Since one stop shopping is easiest why don't we start with the setting and then find the best stone for you from there.

Sorry for the delay, I wasn't expecting a response so soon. Thanks you for giving some input on the stones. My girl is really crazy about the bezel type settings, similar to this:

She doesn't necessarily have to have stones on the setting itself. What do you think of the price? I've not gone down the path of looking locally for settings. Thanks again for any and all input

Edit: BTW, what does "virtual inventory" mean exactly?
