I was registered as a repulican since 1988 until this year when I just couldn''t live with myself a moment longer! Honestly the only reason I ever was one, was to vote in the republican primaries. I couldn''t live with my hypocrisy any longer though... and to console myself I voted for every single tax increase and voted against the tax reduction! Ha!! Libraries, schools, fire, and safety will all thank meDate: 11/7/2006 7:39:45 PM

Are the Republicans as busy where you are as they are here in No Cal? I''ve had four telephone calls in the last hour (it''s now 4:40pm) ''reminding'' me that there''s still time.
Most fun of course, is getting a taped message from our governer... It''s like receiving orders from The Terminator!!!
(I guess I''m registered as a Republican, although I haven''t voted like one in a LONG time.)

Yes, I already voted this morning before work. I put a sign on my office door reminding everyone to vote!
I really don''t care if you vote republican or democrat, what I DO care about is that people exercise their right to vote and inform themselves on the issues/propositions so that they know what they are voting on.
I hate it when I hear people said they voted a la ''eennie meennie minie moe'' or they just alternate between ''yes'' and ''no'' on all the propositions.
Grrr, that''s just a WASTE of a vote!
apparently here all of the new immigrant citizens in this state were sent letters (falsely) informing them that they could not vote - even though they are citizens!!!!Date: 11/7/2006 8:42:44 PM

I''m glad people are getting out there and voting!
Although I swear they''ve been doing their best to discourage us from voting what with all the ugly and/or pathetic ads and the phone calls. I even unplugged my phone yesterday after all the automated phone calls, and I left my 80lb monster dog on the front porch. *sigh*
The election in my state is a bit depressing. Not only has there been a few real nasty races but they parties are still pointing fingers and screaming at each other on election day! The Dems are saying that the Republicans called non-republican voters and gave them the wrong polling location info ... deliberately of course! (Yesterday they tried to get a court injunction to stop the calls.) And the Republicans are screaming that the democrats intentionally gave republican-heavy precincts too few ballots and no provisional ballots! They''re muttering about lawyers. oy vey!
Our state finally gave up on the electronic voting machines and so this is our first paper ballot vote... I think not all of the kinks have been worked out. But it''s still better than having the sneaking feeling that your vote just evaporated.
Anyway, here''s to all the people who voted today!Thank You!
ETA: I agree, doesn''t matter which way you vote, just VOTE!
well... some offices are held for 2 years, some for 4, some for 6 - the big election years are presidential election years which is every 4 - a lot of offices come up during the presidential election year - and quite a bit of them are held 2 years before/after a presidential election and those are midterm elections, which is what this is. There are elections held EVERY year though, but most of the stuff on the ''off years'' is local.Date: 11/7/2006 8:49:04 PM

So... who are you voting for? The governors? The president? Something else? *is confused because Canadians have federal and provincial elections every 4 years as that's it*
