Hello all!

PS did great in helping me find the perfect ring
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-proposal-and-the-reviews.139906/

Now i'm hoping to find the perfect perl necklace to give to her as her Bride's gift. My budget's - under $600.00. She's most likely going to wear some type of diamond bracelet and a white dress. You can see in the pictures that she's Hispanic but a light complexion, she's about 5'4", medium build, dark hair and gorgeous as all can be.

And I've got no idea what to look at. Any ideas to propel me into the right direction? I've glanced at Pearl Paradise but am just kind of not sure what's what.

Thank you!

congrats!

for fresh water check out: http://www.catherinecardellinipearls.com/?subject=necklaces

i've also purchased from Pearl Society on eBay [south sea earrings].

you've a nice budget for fresh water pearls and i think others will chime in with what to look for re south sea pearls.

Hello!

Honestly, I would wait until she has her dress. It depends on the pearls if the dress is ivory, champagne, diamond white. I saw some pictures of a wedding that happened over the summer where the bride had a stark, diamond white dress (D color? ) and her pearls were ivory. There is nothing wrong with ivory pearls, but in contrast with her dress, the pearls looked dirty and dingy and kind of gross.

With that said, here are a few links that I think would work pretty well with a smaller frame:
http://www.pearlparadise.com/7580-mm-White-Freshadama-Freshwater-Pearl-Necklace746.aspx
16" Freshadamas 7.5-8mm $280

http://www.pearlparadise.com/70-75-mm-White-Akoya-Pearl-Necklace85.aspx
16" Akoya AAA 7.0-7.5mm $620 (drop down menu) (but look for a coupon for $40 off- google pearl points) These would be stunning.

And for something a bit different:
http://www.pearlparadise.com/Glacier-Collection-White-South-Sea-Pearl--Diamond-Pendant1037.aspx
South Sea pendant with diamonds... 10-11mm $587

Edit: Is it possible to ask her what she wants to wear on her wedding day? She might really want a classic strand, or something different like a pendant, or maybe something blue too! Or, depending on the dress and other jewelry, she might not even want to wear a necklace. (I didn't!) So I would really try to talk to her about this.

She's had the dress for awhile, I naturally haven't seen it.

Hadn't thought of the classic vs pend, but I may be able to get her Sister to drag it out of her.

Also ask for just the color of the dress.. white or ivory are usually the top ones.

So Many options! :appl:

Here are some Akoyas, pull down the menu to find the specifics of what you like:

http://www.tahitianpearls.biz/akoya-pearl-necklace/akoya-pearl-necklace-anrs.htm Jose has a AAA white, 7 mm/18 inch for $439, plus a bunch of other options.

You can contact Catherine, she can put together exactly what you want; maybe a strand of white freshwaters with the last 2 beads (nearest the clasp) being blue gem beads? Then your bride could have something blue, that's there but demure, since it's in the back. Everytime she wears them in the future, she would see the blue beads and be reminded of your special day. Here's a bunch of whites on Catherine's site, I like the bottom on the first page, it comes with earrings:
http://www.catherinecardellinipearls.com/?subject=search&keywords=white&Submit=Search

Or you could do a simple pendant pearl, ask Sarah to string this on some tiny white pearls: http://shop.kojimapearl.com/products/simple-long-white-drop-pearl-pendant

If she has an updo, a spectacular pair of earrings might make a necklace unnecessary. These are blue and she would get a lot of use out of them after the wedding:

i knew others would have good ideas.....and suggestions re what might determine your decision.

ps i do think how your bride will be wearing her hair that day will make a difference as to what you will order...as well as color of dress.

Alright,

I found out that the dress is white, and the neck length is similar to t-shirt height. She's already mentioned to me that she'll wear her hair up as she will be dancing all night. Her hair's normally about shoulder length and curly as all can be.

ooooh she is just being difficult now :) t-shirt height, to me, is a bit higher right? That is really hard to pick now because I think a "choker" length is going to work best with that. Being that she is petite, I'm guessing she has a 14" or less neck, where as the 16" might droop a little lower.

How much time do you have until the wedding?

Here is what I'm thinking... you could do several things. Get the pendant, but get a custom chain made for it so that she can wear it at 14" 15" and 16" (or whatever increments). They just put little jump rings right in the chain so it's easy to shorten it. This way, she can wear it several ways and she can choose how short or long she wants to wear it. Or, you could get a few cheapie chains and see which length she prefers with her dress and just order that? The good thing with this is that in the future, if she wanted to wear the pendant longer, a new chain is really easy to buy!

Ok, so the other option I think might work, is to just order a plain AA+ white 6.5mm strand :
http://www.pearlparadise.com/6570-mm-White-Freshwater-Pearl-Necklace534.aspx Just to see how it fits. It's about $90 (use a coupon to get $15 off) and you can get free shipping! Once you see if the 16" will work for her, I would just straight out ask her if she thinks that length would be best or a tighter length. Make sure you tell her the necklace is only for measuring and you have a much bigger surprise for her (the nicer pearls). This will allow you to see the length on her, but also the size of the pearls. 6.5mm can be pretty tiny, but on the right frame not so bad. I'm going to guess that a 7-8mm might be best as it's a little more substantial but still looks good on a small frame-- as in, it won't look like Wilma Flintstone boulders on her neck :)

If you end up going with that option, order the necklace and returning it- you'll loose about $10 for the return shipping, but in the scheme of things, that might be ok.You could always think locally, and grab a cheapie strand at a store and then try it you/ return it.

Whew! That was a lot. I hope that doesn't sound too complicated. =)

What a wonderful and romantic idea! <3

i'd consider an 18 inch strand......so that it is well below her t-shirt neckline. assuming her t-shirts aren't cut low?

Did you tell her you'll getting her a necklace as a wedding present? She might give you more clues in regard to her neckline and dress colour. For example what shade of white is her dress? If you send Pearlparadise a photo of your lovely bride to be they'll be able to help you with the pearl colour choice.

Haven't told her, i'm wanting it to be a wedding day surprise. and lol she makes everything like this difficult.

We've got 4 months to go.

One thing I could do is get her those cheaper freshwater ones or maybe have my Mom offer to loan them to her for the event.

hmmm that's not a bad idea.

She's going with wisteria and white for wedding colors.
