I purchased a halo setting with diamond a while back and returned it because I felt the diamond was too big (still can’t believe I thought that a diamond is too big ) the flower look I was going for. I’ve gone up a bit in my budget from last go around. Thoughts on this diamond? Is there anything that stands out that I should be aware of? This site has been so helpful, I picked a diamond that I thought was “beautiful” but after everyone’s advice it turned out to be not so great so your advice is greatly appreciated. :)

i just love that setting from BN! The stone isn't bad but i'd go with one of these below that are around the same size but cheaper in price. Also more "ideal" angles than the one you posted.

Thank you! What are your thoughts on Florescence?

i like it but i know there are many that are very opposed. I Love seeing my pave glow blue when i get gel nails done. lol! Did you purchase the 1.26ct? It's showing not available, it was SUCH a good price!

I did. My thoughts were that I had 30 days to return it and select a new diamond if I choose. I have to admit, I’m a bit nervous about florescence. I’ve stayed away from it while looking for a diamond, so mant different opinions on whether its good or bad :(.

oh yay!!! You won't know until you see it in person, right? Just be sure to take it into all types of settings to see how it performs before making a decision.

Is there anything specific I should look for?

I'm pretty sure my diamond has medium fluorescence (it's an AGS with "negligible" fluor, but glows like a blue Tiffany box under UV lights) and I can't tell unless I shine a UV light on it

Is there a huge visual difference between faint to medium and medium to strong in sun or UV lighting?

Stong can be more blue. Often, it is hard to see flour in medium and below. But, honestly, all diamonds look bad in direct bright light. So, if they lack flour - they will grey-out. If they have flour, they grey-out and have a blue tint.

For any stone with Strong or very strong, they should be examined for impact on the stone. If the stone has Strong+clouds in VS2 and below, they may be more problematic. But, still can be a good choice if a gemologist can clear them of any impact. I generally am more cautious about clouds when they are grade-setting than from flour.

This has been so helpful!! So a VS1 E color medium flour should be ok.

Should be fine relative to fluorescence. But, the beauty of a diamond is about how well it is cut and the specific angles it is cut to.

table: 54-58 (I like the lower end)
depth: 60-62.3
crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)
pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34); 36 with a well paired PA and an IS

Thank you. Farrahlyn was extremely helpful with this. Here is the link :

Looks really nice and white and clear. Bright sunlight *may* activate the fluorescence visibly, but there isn't anything listed in the stone (clouds, wisps, graining) that - along with fluor - might affect transparency (oily/hazy/milky).

It most certainly will glow bright blue under "black lights" like gel nails, possibly at clubs/bars where they use black lights.

I personally find this phenomenon super cool (and FYI simulants never fluoresce).
