Floating Diamond Solitaire Necklace Opinions

Hi Everyone,
I’m looking to purchase an everyday floating solitaire diamond necklace. I’m debating on whether to do a basket setting or a dbty necklace in rose gold with a thin bezel from Tiffany’s. I know if I go the Tiffany route it will be more expensive, but I do like how they do the bezel style. I’m thinking of a jump chain so the necklace could be worn at different lengths. I’m undecided on carat size, but thinking .40 - .70. Looking for some rose gold floating necklace inspiration, opinions on which looks more floaty bezel or basket, and size of diamond…I’m looking for something that can be worn casually everyday. I have attached photos of inspiration. Please share your thoughts or photos. I’m not set on Tiffany’s and I have attached basket settings below, but it is hard to find these types of settings in rose gold. Any suggestions welcome.

To me, a basket with the smaller number of prongs looks "more floaty". Stuller makes this 6 prong basket in rose gold. I didn't see that they had a similar mounting with only 4 prongs.

hmm what do you mean by floaty? I actually have a picture comparing a 4 prong cheapie to my bezeled OEC, both in rose gold. I went with a very thin bezel so at a normal distance, it blends with my skin tone so they both look equally floaty to me. The difference was that I didn't see a lot of 4-prong sliding settings and having it not fixed was really important for me.

I wear a small 0.38 ct set with a halo of diamonds around it and from afar it looks like one floating diamond. I got the halo from IDJ done to match the jackets I had. Putting it on a rose gold chain gave me the look I wanted as the gold kind of blends with the skin tone. B73905A5-980E-45BF-811E-6CE195E81215.jpeg

I think any size can be wearable for every day. I started with a .3ish carat, now wear a .75ish carat, and plan to keep going up in size for at least a while. One of the PSers I know has a 1.5 ct solitaire pendant and it looks great and not too big.

IMO a prong setting looks "floatier" than a bezel. With that said, both of mine have been in bezels!

I think the way the chain is attached is what makes the pendant look like it’s floating, all the examples you posted look floaty to me. Would just check whatever you go with doesn’t flip, that last basket looks to me like it might tilt easily

Hi... I’m wondering if you made any decisions? I have my original engagement ring diamond .83, that I would like to set in a Floating bezel Style necklace. James Allen has a beauty but it’s required to buy a stone from them. where else should I look for just a setting? Thanks.

Hi there! I ended up buying .70 carat diamond and setting it in a fixed 4-prong setting. I just went to a local family owned jewelry store in Tampa, FL. Attached are pictures of the necklace. 66E9F7E8-4679-4342-A5B4-E897A205A634.jpeg

Thank you I’m starting to think maybe one length is best. I’m concerned if they put a jump ring in at 17 inches on an 18 inch necklace then towards the bottom of the chain that connects the ear of the setting where the diamond is may lay more “V” shaped on one side and the other side of the chain will be more “U” shaped because the diamond is fixed. Do you have a picture of your necklace at 16 inch length?
