Buying thru Blue Nile and I am a little nervous making a $6000.00 purchase with the setting and diamond, with out seeing the product. My stomach is in knots thinking I did the wrong thing without seeing it.

They assured me this is a 1% - 3% top diamond cut, and would be a fiery, sparkly, clear diamond.

How do I know this without seeing it.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi!!

I would definitely give Brian Gavin "Signature" or Whiteflash "a cut above" a try!!! Their ideal stones are much more consistent than blue nile I think... I also am lucky enough to have recently seen their diamonds in person (they are located in Houston where I live!) and cannot give a better recommendation to other diamond shoppers :appl:

If you read around this site you will also get great recommendations for High Performance Diamonds (and some others!) and although I have no personal experience with them I would still be more inclined to trust their product consistency over bluenile... I personally would want to see the diamond photo, aset, idealscope, etc. if I am buying online!!!

PS. The Brian Gavin stone linked above may not be eye-clean, so I would call to check if that is important in your search

OH i just realized you may have already purchased the stone, In that case DON'T WORRY!!!! It may turn out great; keep in mind that the people on this site are usually in search of the holy grail of diamonds... you will be the best judge with your own eyes!!! In the end, your eyes should decide... you can go a little crazy analyzing numbers and charts so it may be better to just get it in person and bypass all the crazy nitpicking :D If you don't like it, then you can come back here to get feedback on stones before exchanging it for a new one!

Yes. I purchased this diamond with a setting. It should be here Friday, and they said they will 100% refund it if I dont like it. I just wanted to know if this was a decent cut or not. When I did the HCA scale it came back .7. The Facetware website gave it a final grade of EX. I did the James Allen diamond selector tool and it shows IDEAL cut and brilliance. When I talked to the rep from Bluenile they told me it was eye clean and it was in specs with their Bluenile Signature IDEAL cut diamonds. I hope I didnt lay an egg on this one.....I have been fretting over this all day.
