Hey Everyone...
Exciting day!! The first CAD's are in!

I posted about my buying my J colored AVC, and the fact that I'm redoing my wedding ring after 18 years of marriage. But I haven't talked about the new ring we are designing.
I love a vintage look, and I almost bought an antique ring, but decided it would be better to buy a new ring that "looks" old. I scoured a million pictures and tried on rings at stores... I couldn't find anything "perfect" so I decided to try to combine the elements I loved from a few different rings.... a "nestled" halo, a partial split-shank, and filigree on the sides. I particularly wanted a daisy because it's my favorite flower, and my mother had daisies embroidered on her wedding dress.

I will try to post pictures of a couple of my "inspiration" rings, and then post the CADs.
And then I will post a separate comment which explains some of the changes I'd like to try...

And here are the comments I made to the designer...

"Wow, Shelly... That's pretty incredible!! I'm sitting here amazed!! It is awesome!!

The only thing that I've decided I don't like for sure is the swirls on either side of the daisy. I liked them in that picture I originally posted, but with the daisy, they don't look right. I'm not sure what to put in there? I love the daisy!! It's perfect! Do you have any thoughts on what kind of filigree should surround it?
As I'm looking at the pictures... maybe something that isn't quite as "wide" as the swirls (my husband called them horseshoes). They seem to take up a lot of space. But have something that would taper a little bit, so that the shanks can angle down toward the daisy a tiny bit more, and the height of the daisy would be the tallest part of the basket. (Does that make any sense at all?) Maybe 2 smaller daisies on either side of the middle one? Maybe something else? I don't know, I'd love to see your ideas.
And when I'm talking about changing the angle of the shanks and the width of the basket, I'm talking by very small degrees... not major differences!

My second question is this... Is it possible to start the split shank a tiny bit closer to the top? I mean, have the band be single-width for about one stone farther up before it splits? I'm not sure if that would look right, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

And finally, I've been learning more about 18K un-plated white gold, and I'm wondering if that would compliment my J colored stone better than Platinum? It also has a warm vintage "feel" to it. What do you think about switching metals? Would a CAD design be able to show the difference in the colors of metal? And how much would that effect the cost if we switched?

One last thing, I definitely want the halo to be a "rounded rectangle" rather than an "oval". This image is VERY close, but I would not want to go any more "rounded" than this, and maybe just a TEENSY bit more squared... just barely.

And does the CAD program allow for a view from the shank-side? I'd love to see what it looks like looking directly through the "V" in the split shank.

Just so you know... I am LOVING what I'm seeing so far!! I am beyond excited!
And I also read a wonderful review about YOU on PriceScope!! It made me feel even better about working with you and GreenLake!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts!!"

If you read all of that... kudos to you!! :appl:
I'd love to hear any of YOUR thoughts as well!

Thanks for reading!!

Very pretty design.

It's beautiful dougsgirl! I agree with you about going a teeny bit more square with the halo and going up a tiny bit further before the shank splits. Have you thought about adding a bit of an slope to the halo so that when you are viewing the ring from the side you see more diamond from the top halo and less metal from the side?

Re: First round of CAD's for my custom E-ring from Green Lak

I really like the design. I was thinking you could use marquise shape (kind of like leaves) instead of the swirl things in the
gallery.

I like the idea of the 'leaves' that tyty suggested, or how about leaving it open beside the daisy to give you a nice clear view of the profile of the diamond.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I sent a message to Shelly with some of your suggestions and asked her thoughts. Haven't heard back yet.
I also sent her pictures of this ring that I found her on PS... I like the split shank a lot, and how you can see quite a bit of the center diamond from the side... (But, of course, that is like a 3.9 ct stone.. so it probably makes quite a difference).
