Hi All!

So I received my CAD renderings from ERD today and I'd love to get opinions because I'm a bit undecided on a few details.

Background:
When visiting ERD I fell in love with the tiffany legacy style design. I'm using my existing RB stone as the center diamond which immediately changes the design. I also asked ERD to leverage the same setting that tweeter8177 requested (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/first-timer-with-erd-cad-please-help.199564/)

I will be wearing this on my LH with a matching band from ERD.

Additionally, I asked to see a cushion cut halo with rounded corners and a round with a without Miligrain around the center stone and halo.

Questions:
1.) I love the cushion shape halo but the CAD rendering seems to have a lot of extra space between diamonds and Miligrain. Is that just the CAD rendering or will there always be extra space with a cushion halo?
2.) With the cushion halo I'd prefer no border between the diamond and halo so the diamond and halo blend together and give the illusion of a cushion shaped diamond. Do do this, would you recommend that the diamond is set via prongs versus bezel? I absolutely love Miligrain and would choose that option if I had a cushion shaped diamond. I don't like the plain bezel at all.
3.) Should I add diamonds around the donut?
4.) would love to hear if people prefer the cushion or round halo.
5.) I've seen a lot of posting about having the diamond or halo tilted so you don't see the metal on the sides. Is this something I should ask ERD to do? How much do you typically tilt it?

Thanks!!!!

Two additional thoughts/questions -

1.) if I go with the cushion halo are the edges to rounded????
2.) if I go with the round would you keep the Miligrain between the center stone and halo or also have it prong set?

Sorry but I had one more thought.

Do you think it would be possible have the cathedral taper in little bit on the I side edge like the below example? I also like how the example has Miligrain added to the inside edges. I'm not looking for any engraving but a little added detail from the side would be nice.

I prefer this profile. Have them mimic this.

Thanks Gyspy! I personally don't care for the basket or engraving (beautiful but too much for me) but I do like how the arms curve and integrate the Miligrain. It feels a bit more elegant to me.

Do you a preference on the round versus cushion?

I posted in your other thread that the cushion one is a square shape with rounded corners. They need to redo that CAD. Show them the Vatche Grace shape halo. It is an example of what a cushion halo should look like, in my opinion.

I get the feeling a lot here that some PSers could do a better job with CADs!!!

The cushion CAD is too square. It needs to be more rounded. I'd prefer the cushion IF they got the shape right.

Also, what do you think of this shank? I really prefer the gradual taper. http://www.kwiat.com/catalog/TC_1000/17714c_angle.jpg

I love the gradual taper, also. One of the Tiffany Legacy halos has the tapered shank and I like it better.

I love the gradual taper as well as long as it's not too thick at the top. Could I start at 2mm and taper down from there or would you go thicker?

If I did the gradual taper how would that look with a wedding band? I already know my band won't be flush because I have a donut which I'm fine with but not sure how the gradual taper would impact the overall look with the two together. Have you seen any pics?

No, I haven't seen pics.

I would start at 2.2 and taper down.

Yep, wouldn't go less than 1.8 mm at the narrowest point of the shank.

Do you think the gradual taper would look good if I'm wearing it with a wedding band?

So I've decided I want the cushion halo because it's what I've always wanted. I will have them work on the shape because I agree the current CAD is too square.

What do I do to make sure the center stone and the halo blend together? I don't care for rings with a thick bezel and while I like the super fine Miligrain I don't think it works since my stone is round. Is the only other option prongs?

I do think that since you have a donut, the rings aren't going to sit flush. I think he taper will look great with the gap you are going to have.
