I''ve been looking around a bit for the last week or so and really like the GOG Jubilee. I''ve put a hold on a stone, but am a bit nervous of both the color and the clarity. For all you ROCK-buffs, help either calm me or disuade me.

The stone is:
.90, G, SI1
Size: 5.62 X 5.58 X 3.79

I don''t have any other facts about it in front of me, but I''ve included a couple pics that compare a 1ct Princess. I think it looks bigger, even though a good .10ct less weight.

Thanks,
Todd

First pic. Princess next to it is a VVS2, H 1ct.

3rd and probably best pic comparing the two.

The girlfriend REALLY likes princess cuts, but I like the best of both worlds and I'm a quality nut, so cut is EXTREMELY important to me.

First, there is NO need to worry about the color--"G" is great! As for the SI1, make sure it is 100% eye clean, and not just from the standard 12 inches or whatever. For me personally, I would never wear a stone that I could see any inclusions in (no matter which way you turn it). But, other people just care that you can't see the inclusions when you look through the table. It's completely up to you and your preferences whether you can deal with somewhat visible inclusions (I have an SI1 with NO visible inclusions--appraiser said it looks more like a VS2). As for size, most jubs will look bigger than princess cuts, but it really just depends on their depth etc. I decided to go with a princess, but am hoping to have a jubilee one day as well! You can't go wrong either way!

the princess actually does look bigger....it looks like a really nice princess....they both look a bit yellow, but I'm SURE it's the lighting....a G (or H) does not look that yellow face up!!!! Get which you are drawn to more!!! They are both beautiful.

One other thing--from the pics, the princess in this case actually looks bigger to me!

Boy I think I need a cigarette. Too much to handle.
Beautiful stones. I love the jubilee, or the princess. Sorry I'm no help.

I don't know about others here, but as I am personally going through the 'trying to give subtle hints about what I would like to wear on my hand for THE REST OF MY LIFE' to my FH, I would try to see what she thinks about the Jubilee cut before buying one.

I personally love the Jubilee, but am looking for an Asscher for myself, and would experience a twinge of the 'it's beautiful, it is the thought that counts, but not what I was picturing' if my FH got me a Jubilee instead without seeing if I liked it first. It would be a shame to spend the money on a beautiful, well cut and stunning Jubilee, if what she really wants to wear is the Princess.

There are subtle ways to see- maybe she has a girlfriend who could bring it up, if you didn't want to give away the fact that you are looking.......

jenwill,
Actually, my variantion of subtle was simply sending her a pic of a princess and a pic of a jubilee. After looking at the light scopes and pics she agreed she liked the jubilee better. She said it seemed to "sparkle more."

Of course, getting a nice princess is going to be cheaper than a nice jubilee.

TRex78-

That is great! I would appreciate that kind of subtle

....perhaps you could speak to my significant other and clue him in on how nice it would be to be involved in the decision making process!

Instead, I have to rely on the subliminal/osmosis thing....

The princess looks a little bigger, but it's very minute. The difference may really come in if you set it in the protective V-style prongs, they tend to extend out farther and give an appearance of making the rock look bigger. But of course they catch on stuff and some people don't care for it.

But as you can see, the facet pattern is quite different. The choice, if your GF isn't involved in the purchasing process, is a hard one... one that I had to make. But my FW didn't really indicate that she wanted a Princess cut, so I followed through with the Jubilee and she's quite happy.

But only you can decide what would be best for your gal. A well cut Princess is obtainable, but it'll take some time if you have it. Good luck

hmmm, my V prongs never catch...but i see how it could happen....

Know what's funny?- the more I REALLY look at the two, he jubilee grows...it's the corners of the princess that draw the eye...but the jubilee seems wider...I think you have made up your mind!!!! Go with the jubilee!!!

p.s. LOL nan...

and now that Jonathan is done with you, he can get back to ME....LOL.....where's MY stone?

Funny, to me the Jubilee looks bigger from far away and the Princess looks bigger in the close up shot..... maybe I need my eyes checked.

noobie,
I agree with you. Is it a "goodfer?" Good from far, far from good? Nah...must be my eyes too.

Well folks, a little snafu led to this stone being sold, BUT....there is hope in two others...one Jubilee and the other is Top Secret.

More to come...

I've got a deposit on the 0.90 G SI1. So it was kind of a shock to see your post saying you had it on hold.

I'm waiting to finalize my purchase until after someone else makes a decision about two other Jubilees. One of which I'd prefer over the 0.90 G SI1.

The princess in the picture is 5.26 x 5.36 x 4.01

Hopefully it'll work out for both of us.

Just remember... grass always seems greener on the other side. If you've found your winners, take them!
