What will your first dance song be at your wedding?

SO and I like "Free" by the Zac Brown Band.

Lyrics:

So we live out in our old van
Travel all across this land
Me and you

We'll end up hand in hand
Somewhere down on the sand
Just me and you

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

We'll drive until the city lights
Dissolve into a country sky
Just me and you

Lay underneath the harvest moon
Do all the things that lovers do
Just me and you

Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be
and ever ---- be

No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
No we don't have a lot of money
All we need is love

We're free as we'll ever be
Just as free
Free as we'll ever be

So we'll live out in our old van
Travel all across this land
Me and you

It fits us. We love traveling and being outside. We like to go camping and backpacking quite often. The part about living out in "our old van" sounds a little weird to me, but I love the rest of the song.

I hope it's okay for a non-LIW to post here, but I really loved the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding five years ago (we just celebrated our anniversary on Saturday). We decided to go with a classic, "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons" by Nat King Cole. The lyrics are as follows:

I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I'll give you my heart

I love you and you alone were meant for me
Please give your loving heart to me
And say we'll never part

I think of you every morning
Dream of you every night
Darling, I'm never lonely
Whenever you are in sight

I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I've given you my heart

I love you for sentimental reasons
I hope you do believe me
I've given you my heart

Some of you may remember this song from the movie "As Good As It Gets" that starred Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. In any case, it was one of my favorite songs and it was relatively easy to dance to as it is not particularly long and its relatively slow.

I had a really good friend use I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. It was a cute dance. She just got married a few weeks ago.

Here is a link to listen to the song we are thinking about using: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-7fZJ442_E

We are also considering Keith Urban's "Only You Can Love Me This Way."

I want it to be Brian Mcknight Every Beat Of My Heart SO and I love him.

"Every Beat Of My Heart"

[verse]
I could feel
It coming from a mile away
When I opened up the door
I saw everything that I've been waiting for, hey
Close your eyes
I don't care what other people say
Here underneath the stars
Now Jupiter and Mars don't seem so far away

[chorus]
I want you to know
You take my breath away
And it's been that way right from the start
I didn't know how to tell you
That I want to love you
With every beat of my heart
(With every beat of my heart)

[verse]
Take my hand
Don't be afraid, don't go
I want you to stay
Just relax your mind
I promise that tomorrow will be just like today

[chorus]
I want you to know
You take my breath away
And it's been that way right from the start
I didn't know how to tell you
That I want to love you
With every beat of heart
(With every beat of my heart)

[music interlude]

[chorus]
That's why I want you to know
That you take my breath away
And it's been that way right from the start
I didn't know to to tell you
That I want to love you
With every beat of my heart
(With every beat of my heart)
With every beat of my heart

Ours would be 'Everlong' By the Foo fighters..... may seem a little rock n roll but we would probably do the slower version.... It is our song :saint:

LYRICS

Hello
I've waited here for you
Everlong

Tonight
I throw myself into
And out of the red, out of her head she sang

Come down
And waste away with me
Down with me

Slow how
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang
Chorus-

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Verse 2-

Breathe out
So I could breathe you in
Hold you in

And now
I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head I sang
Chorus-

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang
Chorus-

And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

We will have our fist dance to "We are man and Wife" by Michelle Featherstone.

We Are Man And Wife

All the things you are to me
Darling you have set me free
I'll always give you what you need
and what you deserve
All the joy and all this love
I know that it is from above
and now together there is enough
to fill this world
Cause you are the love of my life
you are the love of my life
and now we are man and wife
Of all the things that you will do
Yet now I'm standing next to you
Darling I will see you through
the rest of our lives
With you beside me I am one
I'm glad I've waited for so long
there is no doubt that
you are the one for me

Cause you are the love of my life
you are the love of my life
There'll be times
and there'll be things
but everything
is going to be fine
now your in my life
So I give you my heart and soul
It's yours to take where ever you go
and through the years you'll always know
it's yours to keep
God has blessed this sacred vow
and angels high above look down
they see the two of us have found
the perfect love
Cause you are the love of my life
Yeah you are the love of my life
and now we are man and wife

There is no question about this one, we'll be dancing to "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. Since I was a little girl I've always imagined this as my first dance song.

Either "Everything" by Michael Buble

You're a falling star, you're the getaway car
You're the line in the sand when I go too far
You're the swimming pool on an August day
And you're the perfect thing to say

We didn't dance at our elopement and haven't decided about the celebration (next May) yet. But if there is one, it'll be "Into My Arms" by Nick Cave, a live version done for KCRW a few years back. Just love that song, and that particular recording of it.

We just got married and did a fun dance to Billy Joel's Only the Good Die Young -- it was a huge hit and set the tone for the whole night!

FI and I are using Come Rain or Come Shine for our first dance (Ella Fitzgerald's version). Not too slow, not too fast, with a few instrumental "flourishes" in the middle for fun dance moves.
