After almost half a year of religiously checking pricescope forums, learning about the nuances of the percentages, and plugging away at the HCA, with the help from Martin at USA Certed, I think I have finally found my stone:

http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=2173326315&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&c=Page&cid=1355954554547

Would love to get some feedback. It grades a 1.2 using the HCA tool (thanks, Pricescope!).

My budget was ~7-7.5k for the stone. How did I do?

The stats look good to my inexperienced eye. Value looks nice too. Do you have light reports to validate?

Only thing I have so far is a rudimentary pic. Hopefully, the ASET would be incoming.

Thanks! I was super concerned since I have spent such a large portion of my free time trying to narrow down a stone.

As I'm moving forward with settings, do you think the I color will pose an issue if I have it set in platinum?

For me not, but borderline for some. I suspect it will face up white as it looks a decent cut.

Here's my wife's recent H set in platinum with absolutely no issues as far as we were concerned. The first few photos were taken on a 'phone and don't do it justice but the vendor's shots and the videos lower down in the thread may give a better idea:

There is also a thread running on 'J' in platinum which may help:

I think you may be OK but it's personal preference....

I think I stones look great in platinum. Seriously.

What kind of settings do you want? Look at BGD they have some of the nicest settings, IMO. Their collection is just filled with beauties.

Thanks for replying and following up, Gypsy- your presence on the forums is much appreciated.

I am looking at a halo setting in platinum with two smaller sidestones. There aren't a lot of designs like this, but the closest that I have found is one from Ritani:

https://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/three-stone-halo-diamond-band-engagement-ring-in-platinum/5012

I am aware that Whiteflash is highly regarded here and that they sell Ritani settings, but there are a couple of changes that I would make to the existing design.

So I then contacted Ritani directly to see if the changes could be made, but they would only make them if I purchased a center stone from them as well.

So in the end, after shopping around, I think am going with a designer who was recommended to me from USA Certed diamonds. I'll post pics once things are closer to production.

spon88-
Thanks for that forum link- it's helpful to see other settings. I do like the warmth of the J stones with platinum and seeing those pictures do help immensely!
