Hello All,

I have been a member of a lot of Forums over the years and have always found great, knowledgeable, friendly members willing to share their 2 cents. Thank you in advance.

I have researched and reviewed 1 carat Emerald natural diamonds until I am blue in the face. This stone is for a 35th Anniversary Ring that I already own but need a 1 carat Emerald cut diamond for the Halo mount. I have narrowed down to 1 or 2 stones. I couldn't find a desired diamond at some of the vendors previously recommended on this forum such as Distintive Gems, Brian Gavin, Victor Canera, or Diamonds by Lauren. I have also looked at all the big well known online sellers. I also used the Diamond Search function on this site.

I need a stone that is at least 7.0mmx5.0mm. Most 1 carat Emerald cuts I have seen are less than 5.0mm in width. I have watched as prices have fallen and want to move forward. This particular stone seems to capture all the requirements.

Hi Craig, we can't tell anything without seeing how the stone reflects light. Can you get a video? The image posted looks to be a stock photo.

Oof! Thank you. I will see if I can get a link.

Did you reach out to them or just look on their websites? Most smaller vendors don't keep a ton of stock but can access a lot of options and vet them for you if you tell them your budget and what you're looking for.

Yes I have spoke with them a couple of times. This morning they emailed me a .mov file instead of a link and I do not see any way to attached a video file to this thread. Since I don't have link it appears I can't share.

Okay. Another Thought/Question...
This is a 2nd consideration for review (which has a video) that is at least 7.0mmx5.0mm and a D-F IF with Excellent Cut-Polish-Symmetry. One thing of note that has me confused is the GIA says 1.01 and Adiamor has it listed as such but I haven't seen another with the weight this low with these dimensions. If I go to https://www.vcalc.com/wiki/KurtHeckman/Diamond-Emerald-Cut and input the Length, Width, Depth, & Girdle the math comes to a 1.064 with a slightly Thick Girdle and a 1.043 with a Thin-Medium Girdle yet the GIA say 1.01. Any thought on that? In the meantime here is the link to the video of this 2nd diamond for consideration.

Is there a reason that you’re restricting yourself to a particular setting? The diamond is by far more expensive purchase and it feels like putting a cart before the horse to be limited to a particular dimension.

Yes, noted in post 1.
Thanks

Is suggest just finding a 5x7 stone and not worry about carat weight, rather than limiting yourself to a 1ct that is also those measurements.

You may also take it to a local jeweler and ask them to tell you the range of measurements that will fit in the mount. Most settings have leeway sometimes up to .2mm each direction but it depends on the mount. This might open more options.

Well then.
thank you.

Yes after extensive searching, I have found 2 diamonds that are at least 7.0x5.0 with my other minimum requirements in cut, clarity, color, polish, symmetry, florescent, l/w ratio, depth, table, etc. I am not concerned with whether it's 1.01 or 1.10 carat. I just thought it odd how the math worked on that particular diamond vs the GIA. I have looked at hundreds.

Yes, Jeweler told me setting is exact 7.0x5.0 but could allow .3 either way. Was suggested for best visual in the mount to not drop below 5.0 width.

I was hoping professionals on this forum could vet the link I posted.

Thank you all for your advise. Anxious to hear feedback on the Adiamor link above.

Thanks,
Craig
