Feather reflection, fish eye or girdle reflection?

First I appologize if this had been discussed before. I did a search on this, and I just want to ask the question again.
I have a HRD certified FIY "cushion" SI1 that looks more like a radiant to me. I know there is a feather in the 10:00 position (from the cert). When I bought the ring a few years ago, it looked eye clean. Of course, over time and lots of looking at it, I think I can see the feather. Now, the problem is most times when I look at the stone I see a dark circle in the middle. The circle is not complet though - just 3/4 around. The last time I had is sized (over a a year ago), the jeweler cleaned it and it looked perfect. Now, even when I clean the stone (dish soap and baby toothbrush), I still see the circle. I am out of the country now, so going back to my jeweler is not possible.

Any opinions why? Could I have damaged the stone? Or is it just the cut and better trained eyes that is causing me to now see it?
What other information can I post to help clarify?

Maybe it''s dirty underneath the stone, dirt could be getting trapped in the setting? If you have an Ultrasonic Cleaner (fab little invention) give that a go, it should come up beautiful. Ultrasonics can get remove dirt from all the nook and crannies. I think this would be the answer, especially if you can''t see it when it comes back from the jeweller, they have probably just cleaned it up really well and gotten rid of any trapped dirt.

put some boiling water ammonia and dish detergent into a cup and scrub with a tooth brush, rinse well and dry well

I just did a good cleaning with the boiling water, ammonia and dish soap. It does look better and very sparkly. I still see a faint circle. I will give it a few more goes but I think it has to do with the cut of the stone. My eyes are now "trained" to see that circle

My camera is not very good. I will post a pic if I get a decent one!
