Hi all, i am new to diamonds and appreciate some help in making a purchasing choice.
im buying a cushion cut, f vs1 0.742 carat gem, graded by ags.104055533013. i just learned about feathers and am alittle worried that this gem has a rather long albiet small feather that runs very close to the girdle. any durability concerns? ive checked with my retailer he says its fine. being a rather big investment, im need some reassurance/ and a second opinion. ::) ::)
thank you all in advance. :wavey:

No, inclusions are not an issue in a VS1 clarity diamond.

thanks diamond seeker! =) btw for someone with an untrained eye like me, how can i tell if the inclusion is "near the surface"?

In a VS1 you would need either a good loupe or better, a microscope. The microscope is way easier to use and most top tier jewelers will have at least one. A loupe is much harder to use, especially for an experienced user.

even if the feather is near the girdle?

cheers.

Yes. It shouldn't be an issue. When clarity grades are assigned by GIA, durability of the diamond is also taken into account.

i managed to get a pic under a microscope, its at the edge of the girdle, looks like its really near the surface. but small... absolutely safe ya ? ;)

any thoughts anyone?

Again, it really isn't a problem in a VS1 stone. Don't worry!
