Hi I''ve been looking for a pink diamond in my price range for a while and came up with this one a couple of days ago. It''s a .29 oval shape, VS1, new GIA certed fancy intense orangy pink diamond. Judging by the pic it doesn''t look orangy but more of a light/cotton candy pink. I emailed the seller and asked for more pics but this was the only one he had. One of my concerns is that if I buy it the orange modifier will overwhelm the pink. The seller told me that the orange modifier brings out the pink more. Because he didn''t have any other photos, I wonder if this is a drop shipped stone. If so I could contact a jeweler in NY that I have done business with before and see if he could get the stone. Here it is tell me what you think. I like the color but am not sure if this is a very good representation of the stone.

Here''s a pic of the stone. I''m on dial up right now and it was too slow to upload.

i would find someone that is willing to work with you as far as pics. when you are buying for color, you should have more than one photo at least to go on.

Maybe so. I really like the color on this one. It''s kind of a cotton candy pink (by looking at the photo). I also liked the fact that it has a full GIA cert on it and not just a color orgin report. The orange modifier color was a concern. I have seen some orange or brown modifiers have little or no affect on the vividness of the pink color and other times I''ve seen them looking a burnt sienna/brownish looking color which I don''t like at all.

GIA graded VS-1, fancy intense orangy pink???? Sounds positively yummy to me...even yummier than the picture.

I assume this vendor has a return policy? If so, I'd definitely want to check this one out..

Thanks for posting it for me! The ring I had in mind is a pink/rose gold bezel with a Euro shank. I''m also looking at a smaller fancy pink emerald it''s a few hundered more but has no modifying color in it.

That one may have a modifying color on it, but it only seems to give it a delicious peach flavor! Wow, at least from the picture it looks great. Yum!

wow! that sounds lovely! 14k or 18k pink/rose/red gold? i''m a fan of 18k red gold......and i love color and euro shanks. the bezel could bring out more pink tone.....but it might not. who will make the ring? have you talked with them?

There is an alloy called peach gold, see if you can find it, I think it will be fantastic for that diamond

Am I the only one seeing a pink haze extending far beyond the stone above it and far out to the left? I do not know how to photoshop, but is there a possibility this pic has been altered? Like maybe color 'improved' by overlaying another color? If they have a good return policy and are reputable I would not be as worried and would at least take a look at it as it looks very pretty, but if there is not a good return policy I would wonder if the photo was altered.
Then again, I could just need glasses! (but I am sure I am really seeing a haze!)

I''m thinking of 18K rose/pink. The jeweler I''ve been speaking with also has the emerald cut fancy pink (w/no modifying color). That stone is gorgeous as well but it''s smaller and a little more $$$ but the pink color is awesome on it as well. I would if possible like to do the stone/ring with the same person but I don''t think the company that has the oval can make a ring like the one I''m thinking about. The emerald has a color orgin only report but the jeweler thinks its a VS stone. I didn''t think of the peachy tone but it does kind of remind me of peach Nehi soda! I was thinking it was a cotton candy pink color. It has a med blue flour. I''ve been told that the pink gold bezel would bring out the pink in either stone.

I brought the picture into photoshop to take a closer look and holy cow you may be correct. It''s VERY slight but there seems to be an oval shaped soft pink haze. Someone really bad at photoshop maybe have ''painted'' some pink onto the stone, gotta see it in person I guess.

I definitely see it too. At the very least, I would want this stone photographed in several different lighting conditions. It is REALLY hard to tell the actual color from one photograph. Even if after seeing many photos I decided to purchase...I''d still want a trial period where I could make sure I love the color in person.

That is an unusual condition here... (Ellen and I are possibly the only two!)..but yes, I wore a 1 ct. engagement ring for a long time and I am still adjusting to the jump to 1.63 (I''ve only had it a week or two)! But I think 1.79 is wonderful for a lifetime..she''s a lucky girl to get a stone of that quality and size for her original e-ring!

Wow - I had not noticed that until you pointed it out!! I see it too. Wonder what it is??

Wow! Thanks for the heads up about the possible photoshop. I looked at the website and they do have a 15 day return policy but the idea that they may have altered their photos does rub me the wrong way a bit. Is there a non-offensive way to ask the dealer if they altered the photo? I will post the pink cut stone when I get home from work, One idea I had about a bezel on the pink emerald was to have it set at a 45 degree angle and a matte or acid finish on the pink gold.

i see a bow tie effect......which is not unusual in an oval.

however, it sounds like the smaller but slightly more pricey local diamond might be the way to go.

the .29 dealer is out of the country? if so, 15 days is not a long time for inspection, possible appraisal and verification, and return if you''re not satisfied. however, if the .29 dealer is in the country, it could be worth a look see. you won''t know til you see it. pictures are just not realiable when buying gems.
