I was watching Muriel''s Wedding (Australian Movie) last night when I mentioned to my FI that I went to school with one of the actors in it (Matt Day). I had a massive crush on him during high school.

It got me thinking, did any of you go to high school with anyone who is now now famous and what were they like at school?

I didn''t, but my aunt went to school with Steven Tyler. In jr. high they were voted most talented in the yearbook. The didnt'' really know eachother though since he was a year or two younger.

Hubby and I went to college with Clark Gregg. He was hysterical and was a good friend of our''s. He''s on that sitcom with Julia Louis Dreyfus, and is married to Jennifer Grey. Funny thing is I don''t know the name of the sitcom. In movies he usually plays a detective or a cop. He played a detective in the movie One hour Photo with Robin Williams.

I went to school with Nic Cage, who was Nic Coppola at the time. We had math together.

I also went to school with a couple of other actors and music people, some of whom might not be well known names outside of Beverly Hills.

Went to school with a movie exec who produced all three Lord of The Rings and another guy who produced National Treasure.

Hmmm....threads like this make me feel SO OLD!!!

I went to school with Anne Archer (Michael Douglas'' wife in "Fatal Attraction"), and briefly the Nixon girls, Tricia and Julie. They are all younger than me!

Oh, and my parents had a vacation house across the street from Eisenhower''s vacation house, so whenever he was there, the whole neighborhood was overrun with Secret service..

Anne Archer is gorgeous. Was she gorgeous as a teenager or was she geeky? Sometimes when I look at old school photos in gossip rags, it''s hard to believe that the geeky person in the photo is the same gorgeous movie star of nowadays.

I had a friend that went to school with Josh Hartnett. It was high school in minneapolis. He was a jerk. He said he had an arrogance about him and he treated people like crap because his senior year was when he moved to LA to star in his first movie....

I don''t really know. She was several years behind me and I didn''t know her. When she started showing up in movies, I looked her up in an old yearbook, and found a picture of her when she was about thirteen. She looked sort of mousy and geeky...but then didn''t we all when we were 13? LOL

No famous people at my high school (although one of the Village People went there many years before me!), but when I was at Columbia, Julia Stiles, the kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun (Joseph Gordon-Levitt I think?), Anna Paquin, and the best friend from Boy Meets World were all there too. We would see them around but I didn''t have any classes with them. Julia Stiles once asked my friend for a light (but my friend didn''t smoke). And once I was in line behind Anna Paquin when she was making EVERYONE CRAZY because she could NOT decide if she wanted a regular Snapple or a diet. "I''ll have the regular ~~~ Snapple. No, wait, maybe the diet. Well, ummmm, no, I''ll get the regular. WAIT! I think the diet instead actually." I don''t remember what she actually got in the end but why she couldn''t just make up her mind is beyond me!! All of them looked surprisingly normal and non-movie-star-like, especially Anna Paquin who I didn''t even recognize for a long time because she just looked like a pretty normal person with an abnormal inability to PICK A SNAPPLE ALREADY!!!

I also have a friend who went to musical theatre camp with Natalie Hershlag (now Portman) in elementary school and said she was a total suckup.

I have a couple of "famous" people from my high school. Bill Maher went there but he''s older than I am so I didn''t know him! There is an actress named Kerri Green who was in Goonies and Lucas and she went to my hs. She was 3 or 4 years older but I always loved her red hair and was so excited to see her in movies. Those are the only ones I can think of...

I played soccer with Kate Hudson.

We all hated her, she was SO stuck up. Her mom and Kurt Russell came to all the games, too.

Hmmm okay lets see. I went to high school for the arts in San Francisco with Margaret Cho, Sam Rockwell, and Aiesha Tyler. I also went to Middle school with Lemony Snicket.

He was about 10 years after my mom and 20 years before me, but Judge Reinhold (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Beverly Hills Cop, Santa Clause) went to my HS and the college in our town.

In college I got to met Michael Vick (Atlanta Falcons QB) several times. He seemed like a pretty normal guy… his brother on the other hand was cocky.

the closest thing I have to this is that pat tillman and his brother went to my high school, but not until after I left there.... so I walked the same halls but they''re considerably younger...

I went to college with Tucker Quayle (former Vice President Dan Quayle''s son) while Quayle was VP. That''s the only person I went to school with. But I did see Scott Baio (Chachi) in Monterey once.

I saw Scott Baio in the Palm Restaurant in CA.
I also went to school with Vanessa Noel, she''s a shoe designer. Was famous for designing Marriah Carrey''s (SP) wedding shoes. And Tory Burch a newer fashion designer. She was put on the map by being on Oprah. Actually Vannessa was on Oprah as well. I catch up with her in Nantucket where she has a store and a hotel!! Girlfriend is doing quite well. She also has a big store in NYC on Madison Ave. Never have gotten any free shoes though!!!

This was way before my time but Patrick Swazye (sp?) went to my HS. I know a lady who dated him...and I took dance lessons at what was once his Mother''s Dance School.

I went to highschool with Danielle from the last survivor (same class). She''s alwasy been a really nice person and we werent in the same group of friends, but she was one of the nicest people that went to my high school.

I also went to college with "Gilligan Chris" (the cute one) from that gilligan''s island reality show. He is friends with my brother, and I was friends with his older brother.

We also had a lot of sort of famous hockey and baseball players in our town, so we''d go to school with their kids and one member of the band Boston as well.

Small world. haha.

I just thought of another, not-so-close brush with someone famous... One of my friends older brother was roommates with Tiger Woods their Freshman year at Standford.

My high school sucks in terms of producing famous people. It''s like your typical high school jock. Great during high school (even famous statewide), but flames out in the college years.

I went to The University of Texas at the same time as Matthew McConaughey, though I never saw him on campus. I have seen him out and about around town (I still live in Austin) and at a few Longhorn football games. I don't think he graduated, if memory serves. He is a few years older than I, but I was an entering freshmen when he left to film Dazed and Confused.

Patrick dated a friend of mine in high school! I never knew him. I''m 51, so he is probably close to my age.

Hubbies college roommate is Evander Holyfield''s trainer. Evander is a nice guy, very quiet. And smaller than you would think!

He is a cutie, but his arrogance is off the charts. I saw him in Austin at a restaurant on S. Congress in Sept. this year. Yeah, I don''t think he graduated either, I think he got some movie bit part and that''s all it took.
During the Ohio game, his behavior was - look at me, look at me!!

This is the best I can do...in my high school honors English classes was Alex English, who went on to be in the pro-basketball hall of fame, and Mari Maseng (sp?) who went on to be one of the main speech writers for Ronald Reagan and she married the columnist, George Will. I skipped freshman English, so they were a year or so older than I was. But they were very smart people.

Patrick Swayze lived next door to a girl I went to elementary school with. His peacocks used to come into her yard and bug her horses. We never saw him though.

ETA: Dirty Dancing came out when I was in 3rd or 4th grade, this was about 4 years later.

Well, Ross Perot went to my high school but MANY MANY MANY years before me.

I think one of the guys from my university is a Yankee but I don''t remember who.

My high school''s big star is Ed O''Neill, you know, Al Bundy from Married with Children. Of course, that was many years before I attended.
