I'd be sad to lose my PS mom account, but I'd move on and wouldn't bother appealing. Facebook already peeves me and it obviously would be a good reason for me not to bother with it if I couldn't log back in!

I am not too worried about it.

What, men are allowed to be duplicitous and not women???
Are we sure it's only women??

Like TG, I find a lot to be "peeved about" on FB

It's b/c so many women make multiple accounts JUST to play the games. My aunt had like....5?

Can you explain this one to me? I've been scratching my head trying to figure out who the heck wants to keep up with multiple accounts.

They play those games like Farm Town, Cafe Life etc etc and create multiple accounts to play multiple players in the game. It's silly, and time consuming and they have nothing better to do I suppose.

How irritating - I do have several accounts:

One is my mainstream account where I merrily post gazillions of photos of my kid for all the adoring relatives and generally socialise.

The other is more of a professional contacts account as I prefer to keep that part of my life separate and more serious and I'm sure most of the people there don't want to look at photos of my child all the time!

I'm just wondering though, most Members of Parliament in the UK have FB accounts that are run by their offices not by them personally (although some do run them themselves) - would they count as 'fake' accounts? I can understand FB wanting to get rid of all the 'hot girl wants to be your friend' ID's but they're targeting the wrong people here.

I have one.. I didn't want to use my real last name. A kind PS'er helped me set it up, high security settings. I didn't want people contacting me from HS. Look if I am friends with you, you know where to find me, but the thought of random people contacting me just seemed strange to me. But have been contacted by some long lost friends, and couldn't be more thrilled. I don't play any games, tried that Farmville?? I was like OK, who has time for this?? LOL, but I know many enjoy it..

Seriously? Who the heck has time for all that? And are they then playing against themselves?

It wouldn't bother me if I lost my PS one as much as my real life one. I keep in touch with my family on that one.

It is in this instance because it's some glitch when they tried to update the system (from what I can tell the update was aimed at eliminating bogus spammer accounts, which were overwhelmingly/entirely fake female profiles).

It isn't about having "multiple" accounts; some people who only have one account got locked out of theirs because they were somehow erroneously flagged as being fakes.

Dunno about that Liane ... here's the text one blogger received:

Hi,
Fake accounts are a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Facebook requires users to provide their real first and last names. Impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited, as is maintaining multiple profiles on the site. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this account for any reason. This decision is final.
Thanks for your understanding,
The Facebook Team

So my dog has a FB account. It's actually DH's, he just didn't want one under his name. I *think* I set up under DH's name and just put the dog's name as what everyone can see. Hope he doesnt get it revoked! The only reason he wanted an account was to play Bejeweled!

I would be miserable without facebook. I don't like a lot of things about facebook, but I like that I have everybody under one roof, especially with me overseas. It's hugely important to how I communicate right now. I just wish another company would come forward and do it better and that everyone I know would migrate like they did from myspace.
