Hi everyone,

I''m newbie here and would like to ask you, what you think about the following:

18kt white gold ring
about 100 small diamonds 1.5-2pts
G and VS1

The jeweler told me as the diamonds are so small it''s impossible to give information about the cut. Do you think I can just trust him that I''ll get good diamonds? The ring is "closed", something like pavé, so there''s not much of possibility to check the diamond depth and cut...

My engagement ring or excuse me Future engagement ring which my FF has but has yet to give it to me...has 100 total diamonds as well..36 make up the center and 64 total on the setting. Thering is a total 1.25 carats....the jeweler told us the same regarding the cut...he let us look with the small eye lense thing at all the diamonds to make sure all the diamonds werent chipped or anything...the center cluster is set up pretty high so we got to actually look up under the diamonds to inspect...it was still hard to telll...i guess the best advice is to find a well trusted jeweler....

The stones are much too small for information that we normally look for in centerstone diamonds. At this point, all you can do is to tell your jeweller that you want extremely well cut stones in the ring and trust him. Make sure that he has a good return policy in case the stones do not sparkle well enough for your tastes. Small 1 pt and 2 pt melees still should be very sparkly if well cut.

Thank you for your replies! The thing is that the jeweler cannot give any information about the cut, which does not sound very good. As the ring will be custom made for me, there will be no possibility to return it. But, I''m definitely going to make sure that the quality of the diamonds will meet my expectations. I''m not going to accept anything less Let''s hope that this company really is worth their reputation..
