Hello,

I am considering buying a stone online but all I have the measurements below. I was wondering if any diamond expert can help provide some inputs? I am worried the depth of 59.9% can potential lead to the fish eye look? I know judging a diamond based on just figures are hard but any input would be appreciated and will not be held against you =)

option A: GIA TRIPLE EX
table: 58
depth: 59.9
crown angle: 33
pavilion angle: 41
lower pavilion: 80
star facet: 50

A thousand thanks!!

thanks, diamonds-are-friends...

do you think the angles for this stone will yield sparkle and brilliance? the HCA gave it 0.7 with excellent in everything (light return, fire, scintillation, and spread) but i've read there are a few drawbacks with this tool.

cheers!

It's at least worth asking for an idealscope. That will reveal more about the cut and it's performance...

HCA does have limitations. It's used as a wedding tool for large online inventories, it's not a selection tool. So, while a stone may receive a good (or bad) score it doesn't guarantee that the stone will be a good/bad performer, it just determines that it has proportions that are likely to result in good/bad performance. In this case the stone is worth gathering more information. Does your vendor offer idealscope images? Magnified images? These would be the next step along with a gemological review.

This particular stone has a shallow crown and will appear more flat in profile than a stone with a higher crown angle. That doesn't mean that it won't be a beautiful stone, but it doesn't fall into the preferred proportions of an ideal cut that many of us have here. However, it probably has a good diameter making the stone face up larger which is appealing to many people.

I think the stone would be good, it needs to be viewed in person to judge, you could ask for the Ideal Scope images but I am not quiet sure
if that will help enough, it would be better if the gemologist in the store can see the stone and answer your question.

Good Luck
