Experience with Blue Nile

My dad has found a ring setting on Blue Nile he is contemplating getting my mom. She likes radiant and cushion cuts and has now told me that emerald cuts intrigue her also. Mom never had an engagement ring since the 2 of them eloped almost 33 years ago. I want to take my mom ring shopping just for fun to have her try on these rings with similar settings to see how they look on her finger.

While he wants it to be somewhat of a surprise, he also wants to be certain it is something she''ll absolutely love. Can anyone share their experiences with Blue Nile? Did you purchase your diamond through them and were they true to what they sold you. Was your ring sized through them as well?

I haven''t purchased any diamonds from BN, but wanted to just mention they have an excellent return policy and I wouldn''t hesitate to purchase an item from them because of it. Unfortunetly both items I ordered from them I ended up returning. . .they were simple necklaces, under $150 each.

I love blue nile...I bought my diamond solitaire necklace from them, and a pair of diamonds that will someday be lever back dangles. BN is really easy to deal with, and have a great return policy. I returned a 3rd diamond not needed for the earrings, and it was really simple and a very quick refund. Oh, and my husband has gotten me a few gifts from them that were lower priced, and I''ve been happy with the quality of everything (and they have a great wish list feature).

But, all my purchases have been RB''s, which I am not nervous about buying based on the numbers/HCA score. I''ve always heard that with other shapes, its more difficult to buy based on numbers (since BN doesn''t do photographs). But...that could be where their return policy comes into play.

And I agree, what a great thing for your dad to do! I hope she finds something she loves.
