I have a ring with three diamonds and two sapphires. I would like to have the sapphires removed and set into post earrings, and maybe have two diamonds set in the ring where the sapphires are removed (this isn''t definite; I may want to get rid of the ring and do something else with the diamonds).
How do I go about this? Do I just go to a jeweler and explain that I want the sapphires set into earrings and pick an earring setting? I can''t go back to where the ring was purchased because it was passed down to me by my grandmother. Do jewelers do this sort of thing when all they would be making money on is the earring setting and the charge for removing and setting the sapphires. Any ballpark on the cost? I llive in NJ.
