Excellent cut, but symmetry good?

I found a princess cut listed with excellent cut, but the symmetry is only listed as good. Is there a mistake in that listing?

Cut is not symm or polish.

Cut is cut performance, due to facet placement, polish and symm are more finishing. AGS factored in polish and symm into the final cut grade. GIA does drop a cut grade to just a cut grade above the finishing for round cut. How a vendor grades his cut is vendor dependent.

Thanks. Since GIA doesn't rate cut on princess cut stones... I'm looking at 2 different venders. One rates theirs as "excellent" and the other "very good". However, one could have higher standards, etc, is that correct?

Again, dependent on what the stone really is. Can they support their grading with ASET images? JA, for example, uses just a simple grading system, table and depth size, not taking into account girdle size or even an actual AGS grade. I have seen many AGS0 probably getting a Good grade under JA's system.

Proportion based grading by any vendor for a fancy shape should be ignored as being inconclusive. There is way too little information to make any definitive judgement, pavilion main angles, chevron angles, crown main angles etc etc etc.

Refelector technology such as ASET or a video file are better ways to make a proper comparison of princess cuts.
